I'm getting ready to take the plunge and buy a ring. She wants a full bezel in 14kt white gold, with a relatively thick band. I've been working with www.abazias.com on the ring & stone (comments/reviews?). We've settled on a really nice looking ring design. Now I'm trying to decide on the stone. From what I've read and what I've been told, when using the full bezel, you can get away with a stone with some imperfections, that the table is the only important aspect for a full bezel stone. Having said that, what would you choose: 1.01 ct,G, SI1, Ideal/Excellent, $4760 1.02 ct,G, SI1, Very Good, $4800 1.09 ct,H, SI1, Ideal/Excellent, $4780 1.15 ct,I, VS2, Good, $4820 1.18 ct,I, SI1, Ideal/Excellent, $4820 1.19 ct,I, SI1, Ideal/Excellent, $4760 I like the idea of a bigger stone for the budget (<$5k). Just not sure if an "I" color will be noticeably yellower? Or if an SI1 is going to be less perfect than a VS2?? Comments, suggestions, recommendations, help all appreciated! Thanks. |

Inclusion, eye-clean is ok. But definitely not scrimp on cut, bezel will make a average cut less lively. For cut advice, assuming these are round stone, we will need the crown and pavilion angles.

Actually that is not so, ALL the proportions are important and how they work together, the table is only part of the story. With the diamonds listed can you post the report numbers if they are all GIA graded please, alternatively post the following info. depth% table% crown and pavilion angles girdle thickness polish and symmetry grades diameter measurement fluorescence if applicable SI1 can be an excellent choice if verified eyeclean by a trusted vendor and is reliably graded ( GIA or AGS). An I colour is in no way yellow, if you aren't sure see if you can see some in person of similar size and lab grade, that way you will see where your colour preferences lie.  Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. When a horse dies, the memory lives on because an enormous part of his owner's heart, soul, very existence dies also...but that can never be laid to rest, it is not meant to be... - Stephanie M Thorn |

Do you have the angles data for the other 3? Yes indeed and once you start getting steep pavilions like those, in I colour and lower, colour entrapment is a possibility and leakage issues. Try to keep pavilion angles around 41 degrees or less, the cut advisor will be of assistance there. No, their website doesn't list the angles anywhere (that I could find). See, this is the reason why I went here- you guys rock. I will contact the vendor again and basically cut/paste your responses and see what their second wave of choices are. Any other recommendations for a website/wholesaler for the stone?
