Can you post the crown and pavillion angles off the GIA report, please?

Or if you post the GIA report #, we can look it up from that.

Hi Maggie,

I just wanted to check if IF clarity is your preference?  I just wanted to mention you could lower this without visual sacrifice and maybe get a slightly larger diamond if you preferred - but if IF is indeed your preference then don't worry!

Thanks, do you have the crown and pavilion angles please?  These should be on the report if it is since early 2006, the angles are critical info in order to be able to evaluate this diamond.

Alternatively do you have the GIA report number?  Then we could look it up from there.

Slightly steep in the pavilion angle for that crown angle. I would probably not consider it unless you have access to an IdealScope image?

40.8-41.

Just run the numbers through the cutadviser. http://www.pricescope.com/cutadviser.asp, score below 2 is a likely candidate.

Lorelei has a "Cliff's Notes" of angles that she posts that is very helpful.  I'm sure she will come back and have that for you.

In the meantime, pavilion angle of 40.6-41 and crown angle of 34-35 is a good start.

Actually the pavilion angle is on the steep side here, the crown angle is fine - it would be better if the pavilion angle was shallower.  An Idealscope image is definitely needed in order to judge how this angle combo works, it is possible there will be light leakage which we don't want.

Here are the ' cliff's notes' for suitable angle combos that Jet suggested which should help you. ( quoted from expert John Pollard).

With that said, here's a "Cliff's Notes" for staying near Tolkowsky/ideal angles with GIA reports (their numbers are rounded):  A crown angle of 34.0, 34.5 or 35.0 is usually safe with a 40.8 pavilion angle.  If pavilion angle = 40.6 lean toward a 34.5-35.0 crown.  If pavilion angle = 41 lean toward a 34.0-34.5 crown.

GIA "EX" in cut is great at its heart, but it ranges a bit wider than some people prefer, particularly in deep combinations (pavilion > 41 with crown > 35).

This one has better possibilities than the first, but I would still want to see a IS due to the crown angle.

Numbers looks good.

Yes indeed, this diamond also falls within fiery ideal cut range ( FIC) which basically means the diamond might show some extra fire or coloured light if the lighting conditions are right.

Can you get an Idealscope or ASET image please?

No, BN does not supply those images, sorry about that.

Why don't you try jamesallen, their price are usually better than BN and they supply stone images and also IS on request.

Definite no to this one due to the pavilion angle.

An Idealscope image would be needed for this one but BN don't supply them as you are aware.

It might be fine but the report with the details we need hasn't been uploaded yet, also you would need to check the very thin part of the girdle wasn't a potential durability issue by asking James Allen's gemologist to check it out if when you get the report if the diamond is worth further investigation.

This one looks promising in the photo but they haven't loaded the report on this one either so you would need to contact them for the angles and so on.

Would you be open to sharing the specs you want in a diamond (size, color, clarity) and a budget and letting some of the people here see what they can come up with that would work for you?
