DH and I put an offer in on our dream home Tuesday. It's a 100 yr old Victorian, in need of a lot of repairs (which is fine, DH works for a contractor and is a very handy man), and the price is right... we kinda low-balled them because the house will need some immediate repairs (roof, hot water heater, upgraded electrical system, and a bathroom reno - there's just a clawfoot tub, no shower). But once updated, this house could be absolutely stunning... it's way more house than we ever thought we'd be able to afford (3200 sq feet). And as long as the inspection shows no structural issues/termite damage, it could be a dream come true for us. I am beyond excited/anxious. We were supposed to hear back from the realtor last night by 8pm w/ an acceptance/rejection of our offer. She called us at 8:30, and explained that the seller/POA wants to accept BUT needs to speak w/ his siblings first, and couldn't get a hold of them (the parents of the seller lived there for the past 65 years, and have died). I'm assuming the $$ from the house will get split up amongst the children, and that's the delay - they all have to agree. The realtor said she'd get back to me today.... and I am just a bundle of nerves! And since I believe in the magical powers of PS dust, I'm askin for it!!!!!! TIA!!!   ETA: Maybe I shoulda posted this in the FHH section... feel free to move it, mods, if you want! ****MARRIED!!**** |

HH... I know, the garage really doesn't match the house, does it? The 'bonus room' above the garage is a huge 22'x22' room with a powder room. I think we'd make it a family/TV room.

Haven't heard back at all today.... Fingers crossed that no news is good news. Now I guess I have to wait through the entire holiday weekend  I think I'll shoot the realtor an email tomorrow... Thanks again for the dust, everyone! |

Update: PS DUST WORKS!!!! They accepted the offer!!! I finally got a call from the realtor yesterday afternoon. I had been getting nervous that maybe the sellers were stalling to see if they would get any additional offers (the house has been on the market since January, and they recently lowered their asking price). Apparantly the delay was getting all 4 siblings on board. Fingers crossed the inspection goes well! I'm on cloud 9 but still a little nervous... ya know that movie Money Pit with Tom Hanks? I hope this house isn't like that one, lol. DH says if the inspection shows anything we don't already know about, we'll go back to the drawing board and lower our offer. Thanks for the dust!!
