Hello PS'ers

we have been looking at ER and decided that we like Michael Beaudry and Jack Kelege designs but we can't decide between the two (and I've already had a not-so-great experience with JK).

Would you please give me your opinion of which designer you prefer?

Can you please stop spamming new threads?

Just bump up your old thread with a new message. This will get confusing fast if and when people reply in different threads.

Stone Cold, excuse my ignorance but I have no idea what I have done incorrectly. So if you would help me with some guidance, that would be appreciated.

Just keep to one thread for each question please.

EDT:
This is your other thread, almost asking the same question. http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=115722 Posted approximately 1 hr before the start of this thread.

Elizabeth,

If you feel like you're not getting enough responses to your earlier thread, try replying to your own thread to "bump" it up so that more people see it. No need to post a new thread about the same topic.

It might also help to post photos and/or links to the different designer ring models you're considering, that way people have an easier time giving opinions.

You're very welcome.

Also, should you wish to close or remove one of the two duplicate threads so answers can be consolidated in one thread, you can click the "report concern" button on the lower right-hand side and ask the moderator to do so for you.

Now, unfortunately, I can't give you an opinion on Beaudry vs. Kelege, since I'm not very familiar with either .

These are the 2 rings we are looking at. I'd love everyone's opinion...

Between those two, I prefer the look of the Beaudry ring.

I own the Kelege so obviously I prefer that one...especially for an e-ring.  They are both pretty though!

both are lovely. I think both designers are very high quality. I do not believe there are any PS vendors that carry Kelege. Pearlmans carries beaudry and honestly I just prefer working with PS vendors when possible b/c they seem to be very customer service oriented. Plus, they know how picky pricescopers can be and will do business with us any way I'm bias though b/c I love Pearlmans and have done business with them several times long distance.

Plethora, thank you for your input... And, I LOVE your ring (thought it was a Kelege:).

Actually, my negative experience was mostly with the store, but partly with Kelege as well. My fiance and I went in to a store in VA (I live in NY and he lives in MD, we met and went there just to see the Kelege as they claimed to be having a trunk sale). We purchased a Kelege setting for $9,000. I did tell the salesperson that I noticed the edges around the center stone (scalloped edges, for lack of a better word) were uneven, and looked a bit odd. She replied" they are all man-made and that is bound to happen with each piece). I assumed she was right. When I got home to NY, I noticed that it had 2 stones missing (pave, of course). Since I had no idea who Jack Kelege was, I decided to call the company and speak with someone in customer relations. Well, the woman who answered was rather rude, she told me that the person I wanted was not available... and that he'd call me back. He never did... so, I called back and she (same woman) spoke with me.. I apologized for bothering them, and simply asked what I should do (return ring to store to replace stones or should we send it to Kelege?). She told me that I should bring it back to the store and they should send it back to them... but that they would be a while in fixing it since the jewelry shoe in Vegas was going on. OK? So, I called the jeweler in VA... she made no apologies and just stated that it robably happened during the steam cleaning. She told me that I could Fed Ex it back (at my expense) and thay they would replace the stones themselves.

PS- I have since seen other JK rings (both in pictures on this site as well as on someone wearing one, and none had the uneven platinum scalloped design 9almost like they got sloppy) that mine does...strange, huh?

Mrs. Salvo,

You make a wonderful point. From what I see on this site, Mr. pearlman seems like a very honest man...and very generous with information. I am gioing to contact him and ask for a price on that ring. Btw, do you know if I would be able to purchase that ring from them without buying the center stone?

You know, I'm not sure what beaudry's policy is anymore on that. At one time you could purchase just the settings but I do recall they changed`this at one point. I would suggest just giving Pearlmans a call, they will be able to help you. Be sure to tell them you are a Pricescoper too

for 9K the scalloped design should not be sloppy, handmade or not, that's not acceptable. Some do allow for tiny imperfections in handmade pieces but I used to own a detailed handmade daniel k ring and it was pretty darn perfect and I'm one that is overly picky when it comes to the tiny, minute details.

I don't know the history of the ring you bought.  It makes me wonder if the store you bought it from had already had a stone in it and took it out or something to cause that kind of damage to it.  Like I said in another post-  You really shouldn't buy showroom models of a Kelege in my opinion...that's more of a "try on" ring.  You shoud get one made specifically made for you and your diamond from scratch.
Kelege does not work with the general public so you have to go through a jeweler whom you trust...so you will definitely want a jeweler that has a good relationship with Kelege and will be able to get you what you want.
As to the quality of Kelege...I'm EXTREMELY nitpicky and my ring came back absolutely perfect!  The other rings I looked at of Kelege were also perfect and I looked at them with a loupe several times.

I own a Beaudry engagement ring which I got from Pearlman's. The piece is handmade, and it did have some minor imperfections (halo was slightly uneven), but I don't notice them anymore.

My only issue was that my center stone was set slightly off-center inside the halo. I sent the ring back to Pearlman's at their expense, they reset my stone, and it's fully centered now.

I did get a Beaudry stone, as per their policy. I got my ring a year ago, so I'm not sure if that policy still stands. With that said I got my stone for a very good price.

Just a warning about stones that are set above halos (like the two rings you've linked): Sometimes they can look like they are off center, when they really are not, so if you're a stickler for symmetry take a good look at some finished rings before you commit to this style.

ETA: Pearlman's sent my ring back to Beaudry reset the stone, they didn't reset it themselves.

plethora- the ring was/is gorgeous. I just found that that type of detailed intricate setting didn't match my lifestyle/social circle very well. I didn't feel comfortable wearing it and I was nervous that it would get beat up so it sat in a box most of the time. I needed a ring that I could wear pretty much all of the time without worry. I wore my original wedding set 24/7 and just didn't want a ring I had to baby, despite countless hours of research and thinking I was okay with a ring that needing babying.

MrsS - I remember how nervous I was about the whole thing, and it really does suck to have such an important piece not meet expectations. After that experience I know how important it is to work with a jeweler who is strongly focused on customer service. I know mistakes happen, but it would have been awful if the jeweler wasn't cooperating 100%.

so true, which is why I think working with Pearlmans or any of the Pricescope vendors is such a plus. Not to say their aren't wonderful local B&M jewelers out there with good customer service too if you are lucky enough to have them in your city.

Plethora,

May I trouble you to show us a few more pics of your JK? I'd love to see it from another angle(s). Also, may I ask what size your center stone is? I'm beginning to think that a 2 ct may be too small for this ring (but 2ct. is already stretching our budget). Decisons, decisions :)

Have you actually tried this ring on with a center stone of any size, but preferably in something close to 2 ct?  Honestly, it ends up being pretty big over all once you put a stone that size in there.

My center stone is 3.03 carats (about 9.4mm) and my ring size is 4.75.  I tried on the ring with a 2 carat (around 9mm I think?) and the size was very nice.  I think you could even go under that.  I think ringplease has this ring with something in the 1.5 carat range.  Look for ringplease threads in the search box.

Here's a link to a few not so great pictures of mine (before my new camera). There is more than one just scroll down the page.

I also have some pictures in the SMTR forum in the arrows thread and the fire thread.  Attached is a more recent photo.
