I was all set with a beautiful Lazare RB, G color, VS2, .76 for around 5K. I had a setting and matching wedding band I adored. Very vintage, yet classic. Anyway, I tried on a cushion cut by Henri Daussi and adored it. I've attatched the ring I tried on. The entire cost for the ring and setting was $5200, with the center stone being VS2, E, and .51 ctw. Not sure if this is a good deal or not. Does anyone know?

Also, I'm wondering if someone could tell me some of the differences between the two diamonds in regard to sparkle, light return, etc. Also if anyone has any pics of a cushion in a halo or especially a Henri Daussi setting I've LOVE to see them.

I posted a link to my Daussi and I love my ring!  Treasure, everything depends on what you want the most.  I told M that I wanted a 1carat VS2 ring and the Daussi setting.  He picked out the best diamond for me and went with my favorite Daussi setting.  My cushion isn't a Daussi, but I love it anyways.  My ring was appraised at $11,500 but I know he only paid around $5k for it...he won't tell me any exact details but he didn't end up paying a fortune.  The wedding band I picked won't be the matching Daussi, but it's ok since it's very close and the price is more kosher.  When the time comes, I recommend picking out a diamond you love (our guy Ron from Solomon Brothers was awesome and I can give you his info if you want it) and the setting of your dreams and then have them put together.  My fiance is in WA, he bought the diamond from Atlanta, GA and the setting from Savannah, GA.  He received the diamond from Atlanta, then spoke with Savannah to purchase my setting.  He shipped the diamond to New York where Daussi is located and Daussi sent the ring back to Savannah once it was completed.  After that it was mailed to Seattle and after that, he flew to Tampa, Fl to propose to me!  He saved quite a bit of money by not going with a Daussi cushion (but keep in mind that wasn't one of my requirements) as well as doing everything out of state.  He saved at least $450 alone in taxes.   Overall, my ring and my wedding band will below $6k and I'm definitely happy with the investment!
