Remember the Umba sapphire from Barry's May drop?  It arrived yesterday, and BB stone never disappoints!

My confession - my desire for an Umba sapphire started after seeing Icekid's beautiful ring.  This one is more on the lilac side, but I love it!

First, a few shots in the shades, no flash.

I forgot the specs.  Unheated Umba sapphire, 1.3ct, 6.3mm, BB cut.

I plan to set it in this LOGR ring.  14K rose gold halo, WG shanks, upgraded diamonds.

Please tell me your thoughts on the setting, is it too much?  Is RG competing with the sapphire?

More views of the setting.  Under different lighting, it can appear a lot darker - typical sapphire behavior.

It's gorgeous!!

I like the setting aesthetically, although it's a bit busy for me personally.

Sorry about the huge picture.  Lost track of pixel sizes.

I have a spinel from Dan that is quite similar in size and color so I put them side by side.  The round one is the sapphire.

There is more liliac in the sapphire and the cut is deeper.  Well, a sapphire is a sapphire.

I don't understand how this one turned out so pinkish but liked it anyway.

That's it for now, thanks for looking.  Tell me your thoughts on the setting, please!!!

That is such a pretty sapphire!  I can't decide if I like the rose gold with it or not.  I feel like it might detract from the color of the stone but I can't put my finger on exactly why.

A lovely stone and an interesting idea for the setting! A bit out of the box, but I don't think it takes anything away from the stone.

Yingh, it is beautiful! I love the stone, and the style of the setting is gorgeous - for me color is very personal, I would probably like the stone set in all white gold more to emphasize that great sapphire color. But, I also think that it might be my monitor - the center halo looks much more golden than pink-y so I think that is impacting the look for me a little. It will make a beauty of a ring!

That’s an interesting colour Umba as I was expecting a grape purple.  It’s also very brilliant.  Count me in as another who didn’t expect to see it in a yellow metal halo.  Nothing wrong with that, just different.

The setting looks definitely coppery (rose gold) on my monitor, and I really love it in there.  It's going to be different, and unique.

Beautiful sapphire, yingh!!  I actually like the rose gold halo, and think it enhances your stone.  Yes, there would be more contrast with a white gold halo, but it would also make your sapphire look smaller.  The rose gold provides visual interest, and adds depth.

I actually love the setting, though I think I would prefer it all in white gold - it would make the sapphire pop more. That isn't to say that it isn't pretty with the rose gold though!

What a lovely stone! I can't decide how I feel about the halo. One minute I love the color contrast, and the next I find it distracting. Hmmm. I'm no help at all, am I?

I just want to see that baby set and worn! Gorgeous. The RG is really different for that color sapph, but it looks so delicious you could set it in anything and in that setting, it will indeed stand out. Yeah, I'm not a very discriminating critic when it comes to a delicate setting and a gorgeously cut and colored stone. Far more importantly, do you love it?

Gorgeous stone and I have to say I am quite surprised how much I like it in that setting with the contrast of rose gold.   I think it is unique!  Go for it!!

*Swoon* Ah.. you got that beautiful Sapphire! It's just beautiful! Congratulations!

Normally I would have said no but it looks surprisingly good. If I only have one blue stone, I would have gone all White/Plat but since you have so many other blue stones (the spinel and Aqua), I'll say go for this setting since it's unique and looks good too!!

I go from liking it to not to liking it.  I think it could grow on me.
