I am glad I delayed my purchase for a diamond before coming to this site. I have been lurking around and reading on the more important aspects of a diamond.

I wound up going with this one from good old gold for my GF's enguagement ring. Tell me what your think!

I think it's fabulous! Well done.

That will be a super diamond, congrats!!!

It was 6800. I am curious, does GOG give a pricescope discount?

I think the only discount is from wire-transfer.

I am still searching. I am thinking a four prong similiar to this in platinum. http://shop.goodoldgold.com/imagesviewer.cfm?vid=7faa33da-aec9-08d6-66a9-05d839e99558&getDefault=0

Any other recommendations?

Well I like that ring, but that's because I have one almost like it in WG. However, that style is not for everyone, or at least the thicker band. Many gals like thinner bands so it makes the diamond "pop". Do you know what she likes?

She has no idea as this is a surprise. I wish I knew more, but she does not wear any jewelry as odd as that sounds.  Everytime in the past (6yrs (I know this is overdue)) I hinted about B-day jewelry and she said not to get it. She has bigger hands and is a taller woman. She also is somewhat accident prone so I figured I would get a setting that is a little thicker.  I am still open to suggestions however on the different types of settings.

You certainly live up to your nickname with that choice of a sparkler!
I'm with the 'find out what she prefers' camp but a classic style have been a prudent option for many.

Actually, it's not that odd, we've had many a guy say the same thing!

Ok, since she's not a big jewelry hound, I would say this could be a lovely, safe selection. I don't think she would be the type to care so much about how big the diamond looks (not that it's not already a great size!). And it's a really pretty, feminine setting. Also, it's well made, so it can take some knocks, as I speak from personal experience.
