Hi everyone!

I had my first fitting for my Amsale Ella gown yesterday at Kleinfeld. My seamstress' name is Ellie, and she seems absolutely LOVELY!

Anyhoo, I bought the dress all the way back in August last year, so it's been so long since I've seen it! I forgot what a lovely rich creamy ivory color it is - these pics don't do it justice. I only had my phone with me, so the quality of the pics isn't the best.

There's quite a bit of pinning going on in the top bit, to make it smaller/more fitted, and to adjust the "boob bit" (the boning - as I'm nearly 6 feet tall, the dress is made for someone with shorter proportions, so the boning bit curves out a bit below where my actual boobs are. The joys of being tall! Anyhoo, Ellie says she'll take care of it.) You can also see the way it's going to be bustled. It actually has a lovely train. And you can see the extra grosgrain ribbon that I asked to be included in the belt, hanging down at the back. I'm going to leave it loosely knotted and hanging down like that.

I'm going to be wearing a cathedral-length ivory lace-edged veil with this dress - kindly loaned to me by my lovely aunt! Jewelery-wise, I'm going for some fairly simple sparkly dangly earrings.

I was planning on having my hair all up in a high bun, and had even done the trial that way. But once I put the dress on yesterday, my hair all up looked too harsh - I was all shoulders and jawline, and... well it was just harsh! So I think I'll do something half-up-half-down... hence having my hair down here.

So!!! ........... What do you think?!?!?!?!?!?!

By the way, the skirt looks all rumpled and creased in these pics - I had been hauling it up for the bustle. It will be all smooth on the day.

:)

i'm not a seamstress, so what do i know, but i heard once that the dress should be hemmed an extra 1/2 in because it will fall (maybe de-poofomewhat?) as you wear it, and that way it doesn't end up dragging.  somthing like that.

Wow! You are STUNNING...I think that dress was made for you!!! I also think the length looks ok and a half-up half-down style will look fabulous.

You look gorgeous! I think the length is ok, but it also depends on the shoes. I love the half up half down look. You'll be a stunning bride!

Thank you all for your lovely compliments!!! You're very kind - and too generous, ha!

Yes, I deffo think that hair half-up-half-down will work well - I'm now thinking about whether I should put something nice and sparkly in my hair too, but we'll see. Simpler could be better.

Thank you also for the pointers on the length, blackbetty and Kelli. I think it'll be fine. I'm wearing shoes in the pics, so it should be AOK on the day.

BTW, it's so nice to be able to post here - all my family, and nearly all my friends, are back in Ireland, so I've been doing nearly all my wedding stuff - dress stuff, shoes, invites, well, kind of everything - on my own, so there's been few occasions when anyone is around to give me some feedback! Even if it's just to be reassured that everything is/will be great! Don't get me wrong, my friends are AWESOME and so supportive beyond belief.... I guess it's just nice to get all your lovely comments here. So thank you!

Oh, and I'm deffo going to get my girlies here to come along to the final fitting! With a bottle of bubbly (or two!).

The dress looks fantastic on you! I agree about leaving your hair half-down - I think it will look much softer, prettier, and more romantic and flattering

You look beautiful!  I think your dress has to be slightly shorter at the front so you don't trip when you walk.  I was told that most people lean slightly forward when they walk so the dress will be just the right length.

Your dress is gorgeous! I can tell what the fabric feels like just by looking at it. I don't think it is too short at all, either. You don't want it directly against the floor or it could be dingy by the end of the evening.

You look absolutely beautiful! Your hair half up half down will be perfect. I don't think your dress is pinned too short. It has to be a bit above the ground so you don't trip and don't have to be super conscious when walking. You'll have plenty of other things to be thinking about on the big day. Best wishes on your wedding day and future together!
