So, Jonathan is still looking for the correct rough to cut a cushion for me.  But sent me a link to his new ones he had tweaked!  I'm going to have one of these!

Alright PS'ers...I have died and gone to cushion heaven.  Some one please pull me down from the clouds!

And I'm sure I can say it for us all....JONATHAN THANK YOU FOR MAKING THESE POSSIBLE!  THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL!

Heres the LINK

(sigh) One day I`ll get my upgrade and this type of diamond is at the top of my list.  I just hope that GOG keeps cutting these for a while....

So beautiful that it makes me want to cry (in a good, longing kindof way)

Shush!
Why do you post this link?
Do you want a bad lurker to catch the 2.46ct before I'm able to do it?

Rhino,
Those diamonds are long awaited beauties!

I'm glad Jon is cutting these chunky OMCs with super light return.  He's also got another surprise for everyone soon.  Old cut lovers will swoon over it.

Those are amazing. Just amazing. I honestly feel like I'm doing something naughty. I'm sitting here, staring at the computer and almost drooling. *sigh*

I have to say, I *love* the colour on that L. It's so warm and inviting. I hope they keep cutting chunky, warm cushions long enough for me to get my hands on one...

He told me he's working on OEC too!  Although OMC were the first!  Did he tell you he has a video?  You better spill the bean!

I cant wait to upgrade my new on (how horrible am I...he doesnt even have the rough to cut my new stone yet...and I'm already upgrading it! LOL)

Its okay though...someday I will have a 2 carat OMC...maybe 2.5...

That one in the video almost made my faint!  I could handle that one for the rest of my life!

I just got an ideal L princess, but that chunky L cushion is really something else. Oh well I know I made the right choice, but it's great to see that quality of work being put out.

Now .. when are we going to get one in the colorless range

RedRose - do you know how the pricing works for when you request a custom cut stone?  Is it priced based on what comes back from GIA or purely the pricing is based on the rough and it is a luck of the draw what it gets graded?  I have asked the question yesterday but didn't get a response.

I like them but only the 3rd one has a cutlet in aesthetic proportion to the rest of the stone, to my taste, so 3rd one =

I didnt really ask that when I emailed Jonathan.  I told him what that I have a 2K max budget (in addition to my first diamonds trade in value), I'd like something close to 1.5 carat, eye clean SI1 or 2 (hard core eye clean...like I cant see it from hours of hard core looking for it!) and I or J in color.  He said I should get ~ 1.25-1.4 carats w/those depending on the rough that is found.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the kind words folks. As they say ... "Necessity is the mother of invention..." I decided to pursue and invest in this project because of the sheer frustration I face each time I call in cushions. If anyone saw I had published a video fairly recently answering the question "Does 8 Mained Chunky Faceted Cushion = The Same LIght Performance" and the diamonds ranged from one very good one to a watery, even crushed ice appearance AND THEY WERE ALL CHUNKY. The one that was good in that video happened to be the 1.03ct G VVS that Chrono was contemplating but as you all saw ... even the best one of all those chunkies doesn't hold a flame to my vision of what I believe a chunky should look like. The facility I am working with have never cut for ASET imagery/Dxray but they are people I know and trust and after a few trials and errors have finally got it right. More than anything I am happy that you guys like what you see. Our experience has been that our clients who have seen what they are purchasing via the exams we are performing and especially the videos in the end say ... as beautiful as the video showed it to be it still didn't do it justice so I am optimistic for those to whom these will find a home.

To answer your question specifically charmypoo, the 2nd diamond in that clip was colorless. An E color to be exact. It was a 1.17ct when it initially arrived but after sending back to our facility and tweaking went down to a 1.12ct. Since cutting these we have been contacted by quite a few people but I don't think I ever received any message or email from you to follow up with. If you are interested in pursuing one email me and I'll be happy to help you.

In answer to your other question, all who purchase rough and pursue cutting their own product are taking a gamble. Rough is not separated into specific lots of E VS2, E VS1 or G SI1 etc. Estimates are determined but nothing is in stone (pun intended) until it comes back from the lab. We make less on some and more on others. In the end though it generally all balances out. My concern as the cutter/designer & distributor of this product is that I can offer them at a consistent price to the public that is fair and reasonable for what it is. Whenever we take on a custom cut job I will always ask for parameters of tolerance and we shoot for that range.

Kind regards,

Rhino

I have been corresponding with Sarah.  I address emails to Jon but always get responses from Sarah instead.  It's a non-issue though.

You have done a great job with these new cushions.  I am very impressed.

Good Lord.  My wallet already hates me, but these have me absolutely swooning.  I'm coming down to Houston at some point, Stephanie, and I'm hoping I come AFTER you get your new cushion.

Well I should have it within the next 3 weeks or so, but my new setting will have to wait!  I cant decide if I want a bezel setting...or a prong setting w/a composite of the leon, pear side stones, and having the profile look similar to MAchicks LINKY

It really depends on the cost.  I'm probably going to get a quote in early July, after I have ~1k saved for the project.  I know it will be more than that, but that way I'll be hopefully halfway to my goal!

Hehe.  Thanks Kaleigh.  I was really looking most forward to getting the 2.46ct back too for the sheer size.  It is seriously awesome though they are all honies.

12 newbies will be arriving soon to send to GIA then publishing.

Shortly thereafter about 4 new prototype GOG Signature OEC's will be arriving for evaluation & inspection so don't lose all your drool on these.

Also, after knowing you via the forum for a long time Stephan it is a pleasure to exchange emails and get to know you on a more personal level.

Kind regards,

Rhino
