Getting married in 8 weeks!!!!

So, things are getting closer and I am getting less confident about my choices.

Have we any Paloma Blanca brides out there??  I have gone for style 3961,

It has a v-neck, though made softer with a scalloped edge on the lace which overlays the whole bodice.
The dress skims the hips and then flares out below the knees.
A sweep train, with a lace border all the way round.
Ivory silk with ivory lace, with a few pearls and swarovski crystals scattered over the lace.

In the pic - if it uploads, the silk is champagne and the lace ivory, which I didn' like so much.

Re invitations...

I went for Hello Lucky! invitations - just the digital version, not the letter press (very gorgeous but too expensive for me).  I chose Shangri La and changed the flowers to a purple shade, with charcoal letters.

I am not sure about my dress though love the invites.

Anyone out there like Paloma Blanca dresses or Hello Lucky! invitations?

Thanking you!!

x

My issue with the dress is the bodice.

As you can see, the dress doesn't go in underneath the bust which I think makes me look shapeless.  I have asked the dressmaker what she can do about this, but she isn't that confident she'll be able to make too many changes as the lace which overlays it is all one piece.

The lace is beautiful though...so maybe the dress isn't that awful?

I love your dress. It's absolutely fab and I wouldn't change anything with it. I'm sure it looks great on you. Just remember how you felt when you were trying it on.

I HEART your dress...i would have loved to wear a paloma blanca - the fit on them is spectacular.  I tried on quite a few and they were really fabulous - they were too pricy for me and then i saw two or three of the EXACT one i coveteed on preownedweddingdresses.com .  I am happy with my dress, but those are just really well crafted and so elegant - love your choice!

you will look timeless and beautiful - don't question your choice at all!

Your dress is gorgeous, woman! I tried on a similar one by paloma, only it was a strapless instead of the V-neck. I'm wearing Paloma 3852, but I've added more lace to the bottom and changed the neck to a sweetheart.

I paloma blanca!! The designer is actually my friend's uncle and when she was getting married he offered to make her a custom dress! But silly girl that she is, fell in love with another dress and snubbed her uncle! This was like 6-7 years ago, when Paloma Blanca wasn't as well known!

That dress is GORGEOUS! I'm sure you look absolutely amazing in it as is. If you aren't 100% sure about the area where the bodice hits the skirt, is there any way you could get extra fabric that matches the skirt? Maybe a thinner pleated cumberbund or sash would give you the waist definition you're seaking...?

Thank you Bee and violet 3 I am so glad you think it looks ok!
parrot tulips- that's not a bad idea! At the back of the dress though there are buttons the whole way down the back and a slightly lower back, so I don't think a cumerbund would work. It is def the look I am going for...definition all the way!

And Kama...I have found my twin! I checked out 3852. It is just gorgeous, beautiful shape. For some reason I was determined to get something with straps, and when I see a beautiful fitted dress like yours I regret my decision ++!! If I have read the BIW list correctly I think we are also getting married on the same date...June 27th?

How cool is that!

Don't regret this decision - you'll look so elegant.  I am wearing strapless, but only because that's more or less all i could find. I was also determined to have straps --  I looked REALLY hard for a nice vneck that was in my price range and couldn't find one i loved.  The only one i LOVED was a paloma blanca!!! That neckline is just so different, and will reflect your individuality in the pics i think :)

Empty left handed:

My dress is Paloma Blanca. I am getting married on June 27th, so we date twins.

link: http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=110736

It's probably pretty similar to your in the sense that it is silk, also with the lace on it. In shape too. Is your champagne colored? They didn't mention any colors. Mine is ivory, but that's the color of natural raw silk. If anything, I think the color is a little bit less harsh on the features. As for the shapeless of the bust, I think you should see how it is with some alterations first. I'm sure the dress was too big for you which added to the whole shapeless feeling. In any case, I felt *blah* in my dress too, but I think it was because of the size. Don't worry too much yet. Wait until the alterations are done.

Kama! Oh my gosh you're wearing paloma too? Small world indeed.

Good luck!

Ally! hello to another June 27th bride!

Your dress and mine are very similar. The back is basically the same design with the buttons all the way to the floor. I have gone for the ivory, with ivory lace overlay. The champagne made me look a little ill. I have a pale complexion, complete with freckles, so the champagne colour was a bit too close to my skin colour! Yours is beautiful , and as the others said in your thread, no one is going to notice your back-side with a waist like that!

I think you are right though, when it doesn't quite fit properly it is not going to look the part. Mine is pinned down the sides, up at the shoulders etc etc!

I will learn to love it, I'm sure!

Ally, I only meant to highlight one word in my last post which was that your dress is beautiful though instead I made the whole lot bold! My point got a bit lost in there!!

WOOHOO! June 27th brides rock! But seriously, your dress is absolutely gorgeous. Don't have second thoughts AT ALL. I love your dress so much, and if I had the figure for it, I'd totally would have gone for it! Ally's dress was the one that I mentioned earlier was similar to yours that I tried on.

Now, this thread is WORTHLESS without pictures. Missy, I wanna see pics of you in the dress ASAP!

My dress thread is somewhere around the board. Let me go dig it out!

Time to calm down! Your dress is stunning and the Shangri-La invites are super pretty. You've made excellent choices.

OK.

Here's pic number 1. The dressmaker has a bit of a shaky hand with the camera, hence the soft-focus thing going on.

last up.
.
I think the black blob on the bodice in the other pics is a pin. Or maybe something on my lens!

I like the back of the dress! The buttons go all the way to the floor. The train isn't too long and will give my bridesmaids (average age 5.2 years) something to play with...!!

Empty! This is pre-wedding jitters! I think you look like you have a fabulous shape in that dress! Don't worry about a thing! Once it is fitted you're going to rock it. You have plenty of shape in it. No worries.

Empty, that dress ROCKS on you. Seriously. You're just over-analysing. Once you have all the alterations done, your hair and make-up is set - you will be just perfectly stunning. I love it on you, and I especially love the lace straps. The back of your dress is TDF!
