I'm terrible at coming up with gift ideas so I'm asking you all for suggestions! BF's sister is graduating from high school and we want to give her a gift. She's the youngest and pretty spoiled... she gets EVERYTHING she asks for, including iPhone, iTouch, Blackberry, Tory Burch shoes & bags, Hermes bangles, etc... So I'm a bit stumped at what to get her. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks everyone!

When I graduated from high school, one of my mom's friends gave me a $60 gift certificate to my university's bookstore. I loved it. Not only did it make the whole going to college thing feel real, it also paid for one of my books which was cool.

I usually get hs graduates a monogrammed large Lands End or LL Bean tote bag since they'll need to be taking things to and from college. They have pretty, bright colors now.

One of my favorite high school graduation gifts was a beautiful monogrammed, leather-bound photo album to hold my college memories. It's still on my coffee table today, filled with photos of my college friends.

Someone got me a filofax type thing which I loved and used it all the time in college. Made me feel very grown up having one.

After college I went to grad school (still there for 1 more month), and never really had lots of money to spend on gifts. When my middle sister graduated from high school, I made her a sort of college 'care package'. It was a laundry basket full of things I thought she could use in the dorms - shampoo and other bath items, disposable cups and plates, flash drive, highlighters, poster, etc. She loved it, and I'm planning to do the same for my youngest sister who graduates HS this summer.

I've always gotten my nieces nice/timeless pieces of jewelry. Seems to go over well.

Date: 4/19/2009 10:40:40 AM Being a jewelry hound, I was leaning towards getting her a nice but simple piece of jewelry too. It's WHAT to get her that's difficult. I looked at a few Tiffany's bracelets that can be engraved but even that is $300!

Timbuk2 has really cool bags. You can customize several different bags with your own colors and patterns. The sell a $125 gift card which can be used for the customized bags. If you go to www.ebags.com, you can use a 20% coupon to get the card for $100. They have totes, backpacks, etc. http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/products/bagbuilder A bit earthy, but they are really high quality bags, so even someone used to Coach or whatever would find a use for them.

My favorite things were a toiletry bag from LL Bean that I still use, and a gift basket that a cousin put together with an address book, popcorn, blockbuster gift card, personal organizer, etc.

Date: 4/19/2009 2:09:48 AM I have the zip top boat tote, monogrammed. It's the one that's large enough to fit a laptop. I use it when I travel for work (which is A LOT). It's GREAT. I love that darn thing. I think it would make a fantastic gift. I also have the really large one (monogrammed too) for overnight trips and it's fabulous as well. The quality is amazing- you almost can't destroy them. I've put my work on in the wash when it got grimy and it came out fine. They don't recommend that, by the way, but it will survive it.

My little sis is about to graduate from HS (also the baby, and also spoiled!). We took her to Paris with us, partly funded by us and partly by my parents. I think I'll put together a photo album at shutterfly and maybe print a canvas of a great photo from the trip, too. Sometimes "experience" presents are the way to go for the girl who has everything
