Hey Everyone,

Looking for everyone's thoughts on this diamond.  WF has a diamond on hold until the end of the business day and need some input.  WF has not looked at the diamond yet, but did say that it was supposedly eye clean.  Seems like a really good price so I don't want to pass it up if it is good.

I have attached the AGS Cert., however do not have any images.

1.84TCW
AGS Excellent 1
7.78-7.82X4.86

polish:excellent
symmetry:excellent

Sorry the link for the report doesn't work?

Can you list the crown and pavilion angles please?

That's ok! Looks good so far, but I'm wondering why it got a 1, and not 0. Do you know?

I guess I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say a 1 and not a 0 are you talking about the cut grade or something else?

I just asked them to bring it in to see if it is really eye clean or not.  So it should be here in a day or so and hopefully I can post some images on here that might help.

I think you're right Kt. After squinting realllly hard, it does say that.

Cherrick, the highest grade for these would be Ideal. However, you will never see the difference between that and EX, so I think this may be a great stone. That should knock the price down some, without sacrificing anything visually!

But I thought DQR/Gold report only use Ex as their highest polish/symm grade? Might be wrong.

May be right too.

Cherrick, they recently changed their grading reports, so just ask WF.

I actually have not spoken to them yet, however they told me they wouldn't send me the pic's if it wasn't eye clean.  Slightly nervous about that myself because everyone has their own definition of eye clean.

Hmmm, I bet I could see that black spec in the middle if I squinted.  Definitely ask them what their definition is and from how far away from the face, at what angles, etc.

I agree. Can you afford to have it sent to you first so you can check it out yourself? I think that would be prudent with this particular stone. Other than that, the light return looks very good on it!

Thank you to everyone for your responses!  As far as having the diamond shipped to me so I can determine if it is "eye clean" to my standards would I pay the cost to have it shipped to me and then back to WF?  What would be your recommended company to have it shipped Fed EX, UPS, etc?  Also any info on what I should do to ensure the diamond is insured properly if something were to happen to it?

Here's a link that has some info on it. If you have it sent to you personally, you will have to purchase the stone first (but you can easily return it for a refund if not happy). If you have it sent to an independant appraiser (possibly near you so you can go see it) that meets certain criteria, WF will send it to them, and I don't think you have to purchase first. I would call WF and ask them about everything, as I don't want to give you any wrong info.

http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds_info/t/faq.aspx?articleid=71&zoneid=6

Will Whiteflash send a diamond to an appraiser of my choosing before I pay?

In many cases.  The appraiser must be completely independent, hold certain credentials, have membership in one of the professional societies we recognize, provide information on security and be able to demonstrate appropriate insurance coverage.  Appraiser schedules, holiday closings and internal factors impact our ability to extend a pre-pay option.  If available, the client will be charged for shipping/insurance to and from the appraiser up-front.  Should the client purchase the diamond we will apply those shipping charges as a credit towards the final price, unless the diamond is being sent back to us for setting; in that case we set the diamond and ship it to the client afterwards as the one free shipping.  Some customers elect to pay the full purchase price up-front so they can take the diamond from the appraiser when he/she is finished.  Please contact us to discuss your specific situation.

Great, thanks for the info.  I found another diamond on their website and am wondering if this is any better.  It does cost about $3K more though and it's TCW is less, is it worth it to pay more and get a smaller diamond, do you think the size would be noticeable?  I had initially been looking at TCW of 1.77
