I just thought we could have a thread on Michelle Obama's fashion. Someplace to post photos of her outfits good or bad. (Kind of like the Celebrity Rings thread...)

Not sure how reseptive everyone will be to this, but here goes....

I kinda hope she doesn't get built up into this huge fashion icon prematurely (or, perhaps, Ever). She dresses like a modern professional woman. An Everywoman. Even her super expensive outfits don't ooze $$ (like Cindy McCain's did -- and I don't mean that as an insult, Cindy has excellent high-end taste that just leaned ever so slightly toward the "recognizable as pricey" side). Whereas Michelle's choices IMHO just look like nice, simple, classic, colorful pieces.

What we know about Michelle's tastes so far:

* costume jewelry brooches & clusters of brooches
* flats
* a-line skirts
* shift dresses
* dangly, bold dressy earrings
* high necklines (as opposed to "v" or scoop) -- though your photos show she has range
* not afraid of color or pattern

So far I think she's looked pretty great & her kids look FAB too. As long as she stays more Oprah/Jackie O/Kate Winslet & less Della Reese/Delta Burke/Barbara Bush she'll be F-I-N-E.

Thats a great dress, but since Michelle has wider hips she needs to stay away from horizontal stripes.  I have a similar build to hers (I'm 5'9", but with an hourglass figure - small waist, but busty with wider hips) and she should really accentuate her fabulous arms, legs & back, and her small waist.  The horizontal stripes, and that awful "hell-colored" dress she wore on election night were not flattering for her.

Most of the time, though, I love her clothes, and I think she's beautiful and elegant.

That's why I love her picks.  I'm not necessarily into the things she wears, I mean, I wouldn't wear it myself.  But they look great on her and I love that she's showing off that you can look good without spending a ton of cash.

And hey, Della Reese was smoking in her day!

Yeah but that dress looks great on her!  At least in that pic.  I still can't get over the fact that it came from H&M.  I remember looking at it in the store.

Oh and is it weird that I love Michelle because she has small boobies like me?  We're both all hips and butt haha.

You forgot to mention that the majority of necklaces she wears seem to be pearls.

I really like the black and white pattern and lilac/ violet shift dresses, but I think if she omitted the belts with each, both dresses would be more flattering.

is that a replica of the blue dress?  looks identical from what they're showing.  that had to be intentional.

My favorite thing about her look is that she shops at J. Crew (I'm kind of a J. Crew fanatic). I love how classic her outfits are, and how put-together she always looks.

I have been trying to find a pic of her in a beautiful navy blue dress I saw a few weeks ago, but alas, no luck. She looked stunning.

However, I did come across this, showing a lil leg. Ok, actually it's a lot of leg.

I love Michelle Obama's style.

I don't like repeating gossip, but on the way home tonight, one fo the popular radio stations was dishing "dirt" as usual....

Today's was the news that Michelle Obama is pregnant.  If that is true, it would be awesome for so many reasons.
