Hi!

My LOGR setting arrived today. I *think* it is ok. I'm not really sure what I should be looking for to see if it's one of the not-so-great ones. It sparkles and I don't think the diamonds look like frozen spit...:)

I did have one question, though - should the stone be able to sit in the setting even with the prongs not bent yet? I just want to make sure the setting isn't too small. The pink tourmaline just sits on top of the prongs, not in the ring...

Thanks in advance!!

What size stone is the setting made for, and what size is your stone (in mm).  I've had stones that sit on top of the prongs, and they have fit in the setting with a good benchman.  It depends.

Do you have pictures of the setting with and without your stone in there?  Which setting did you get?

The stone is 7.34 x 8.67 for a 7 x 9 [oval].

I got the one that was recommended [maybe by you? :)] --

That's a beautiful setting.  I think your stone will fit with a good benchman.

Thanks! You [or whoever did it!] did good picking it out for me. :)

I will get it set sometime in the next few weeks. I can't wait to see it!

Post pics after it's set.  Wouldn't mind seeing some pics of the stone on top of the setting right now as well.

I'm actually not sure if I like how it looks. It feels like this setting needs something darker, like a purple stone.

That's a good fit for the setting don't worry.  I like the stone/setting but if you're not sure then hold off for a while.  Don't forget the stone will look marginally darker when set.

I think the ring/stone combo is beautiful and feminine.

Ooooh, another LOGR!  I'm always interested in seeing people's pics of those settings, and yours is beautiful.  The gram weight, by the way, is quite nice - not a light, flimsy piece.  I think the stone will fit the setting, but it will probably sit a bit high - is that something you mind?  Are the prongs attached to the inside or the top of the setting?  If they're attached to the inside, you will not be able to fit as large a stone as if they were attached to the top - if that makes any sense.  Basically, my only concern is that you won't be able to set the stone as low as you might like.  I hope it works for you because I love the color combo exactly as it is.  Please update us after you talk to your jeweler!!

Cellentani - I have the LOGR legacyesque setting and the prongs were set on the top (as these ones are) rather than the inside.  I was also surprised at how far the stone dropped into the setting and I think this one will too - it looks quite deep.

I think it looks absolutely magnificent!!!! In fact, I'm on the hunt for a pink tourmaline now because I want a ring just like yours!!!

Wow, thanks! That's so nice of you to say! :)

If you want to know, I got the stone from GemSelect. I had it narrowed down to 2 stones, and I asked for advice on here, and this one was the winner!

It's 2.56 carats in a Portuguese oval cut.

I got a very similar setting for the same size and shape stone and it didn't fit! I am pretty positive though, that my particular ring was made poorly AND that the jewelers I used are pretty much incompetent as far as pricescope standards go. I hope it will fit for you, because the setting and stone are GORGEOUS!!!
