Hi guys, I really appreciate all the help and expertise that exists in these forums.

Due to the influence of these boards I have fallen in love with eternity bands. If I was to buy one sight unseen, who has the most beautiful rings out of Memoire, Facets or other?

I know that Facets is cheaper than Memoire, but are the diamonds better in Memoire? Also why does everyone seem to love Facets, are they better than most other vendors for eternity rings or do WF and GOG also make gorgeous ones.

I am looking at 15 pointers in the band and really want to go with the best cut for fire for this ring. Before this site I would never have known about cut, so this will be my real first pricescope purchase.

TIA Sharon

Both memoire and facets are excellent vendors for eternity bands.  Facets is a little bit cheaper and they specialize in eternity bands, so you know you are getting a well-set and well-made band.  Memoire uses excellent and sturdy metal in their designs and are also impecably well-made, but you pay for this as they are quite a bit more expensive.  I like the fluidity of memoire settings a bit more than facets bands.

I think WF is another great option and the pricing will probably be in between facets and memoire (at least it was when I got the quote on my five stone band).  They are also well-made and the main advantage is that their melee are all hearts and arrows "A cut above" stones, i.e. very well cut.

Do you have a Barmakian near you? I got my wedding band there after falling in love with prong set eternity bands and the Memoire bands. I tried them on at Long's and was in love.
I was searching everywhere for the best price for great stones and decent size.
I eventually found my wedding band at Barmarkian, you can see it in my avatar. sadly i can't wear it yet as the wedding isn't for a few months - but i LOVE it.
its 2.25 cts. f/g stones, vs1, i forget the rest. its so sparkly.
If you have a barmakian by you, i would definitly go and see what they have.
the price was less than memoire or facets to my surprise.

WF are usually pretty spot on with their service and organisation, I am sure if you explained the situation, they would do their best to help with shipping.

If you're coming to LA then I highly suggest you buy an eternity band from XIV Karats in Beverly Hills. I ALWAYS get excellent deals from them and that way you can see it and try it on in person. they have lots to choose from - ask for Yosi or Jasmine.

Will you be wearing this ring alone or with an e-ring? I ask because I recently got a band with 15 point stones and it was a lot thicker (higher off the finger) than my e-ring. I would not have been able to wear them together. I decided to return it, but it would still be an excellent stand-alone ring.  I would not order one that cannot be returned especially if you want to wear it with an existing ring.

HI:

Looking for rounds?  I fell in love with Memorie--gorgeous settings--but just couldn't justify the price......I ended up buying a WF band.

I have a U setting for my asscher ETR and its profile is as low as you can get with that size of stone (37 points each), I wear it comfortably alone or with my rectangular shaped ER.

Have you seen that 5 stone on Pearlman's site--Sasha Primak?  2die4.  See if can dig up the linky.....

Thanks, I have alot of confidence in WF and their sparkly diamonds from this forum.

But I dont know the subtle diferences between all the vendors that makes one band more comfortable than another. eg some have prongs that stick out more and are more bulky etc. I remember one thread where WF had to redesign (or upgrade the quality of) their eternity band, so it left me wondering about their ability to make it.

And I havent read much about them making eternity bands on this forum.

I would love to see the different vendors bands in one photo to compare!!!!!

Apparantly there are different ways of setting the diamonds so that they are all well alligned, same height, same size, uniform prongs etc. These are the things I need to be sure of with a vendor to be able to buy over the net.

Diamond Seeker, your set was one of the first ones that I ever saw that began my love affair with the eternity band!!!! Thanks for chiming in here.

I will want to wear this band alone on my right hand. I actually have NO idea what size to get and if it will be comfortable etc.

I also know all about the problems in getting an eternity band to fit with an engagement ring....and would not have the guts to even try that without trying!!!! Thanks for the warning though because I would never have known about this but for this site.

And unfortunately, when I got my engagement ring I was completely oblivious to thinking ahead to the wedding band with it. (Im not a young married gal mind you....these are all resets!!!!)

So being the sneaky one....I actually want 3 eternity bands!!!!

1 skinney one to go with engagement ring.
1 stand alone right hand one.
and 1 extreemly skinney pink one
Hopefully by the end of this year I will have at least one!!!!!

Hi Sharon
when somebody with as many posts as you says something....I listen!!!!

I am going to look up your set and have a good look!!! I cant believe the size of each stone...37 points....thats really gigantic. Although I know that the asscher faces up smaller.

As for the link, it was very interesting. There is always the temptation to go bigger in the stones and forgo the eternity band in favour of a 5 or 7 stone. But at this moment I really want the look of the eternity ring....100% sparkling circle of bling.

Not to mention, that 5 stone ring is way out of my budget!!!!!!

HI Sharon:

Oh my...., your compliments made my day!  How kind....wow....glad you enjoyed the pictures; and as you can see the square cut emeralds DO face up smaller than a round of the same weight so it is easily worn.  Good luck on your search and definately check out Memorie before you buy--there is just something about their rings.....

Stay cool--us folks "up over" never have any issues with that!  (Canadian....)

cheers--Sharon

Aww, thanks!  And hey, you are a TRUE PSer with a wishlist of 3 eternity bands! Lol! you sound a little like me!

Now that I know you want the 15 pointers for your right hand, then I think that is a beautiful size for a standalone ring. Stones any bigger than that would feel way too bulky to me, I think.

It's a tough decision as to which to buy. If the Facets one is set low enough to be comfortable, I'd probably try theirs since they have a 30 day return policy. I know Memoire is set low, but I am not sure the extra cost is worth it unless the Facets one is too thick.

My problem is being in Aust.

I have the dollar problem that pushes up the price (although still cheaper than buying here). Then there is duty - 10% - I think.....still not the main problem.

The main problem is if it is not right....it costs a fortune to semd it back (our postage is insane) plus I dont think I can get the tax back.

However, maybe Im wrong about the tax????

Oh god. Memoire, hands down. SO hands down it's not even funny. They are just freaking amazing bands. I've seen some very lovely Facets and WF and other eternity bands... but the memoire ones make my heart go pitter patter like no other.

Is there somewhere in Los Angeles that I could try out some of these bands.

(1) Memoire
(2) Facets
(3) Stein diamonds
(4) 14 Karats

I think that facets are next to impossible to try out as they are not sold in other stores and the office has none in stock.

There might be Memoire sold in LA and then I could order from Pearlmans if he has the best quote for what I want.

Im worried that memoire is just too expensive for what it is compared to facets, but I cant know if I havent seen any irl.

Any clues of how to proceed if I will be in LA for about 6 days, Las Vegas for 1 day, and hawaii for 6 days ????

I could go to NY by myself and leave my family but I arent the best traveller and I get lost very easily.

Sharon If you do decide to go to NY I would say it is virtually impossible to get lost in NY, well I think so and I have about the sense of direction of a newt I get lost in car parks . NY is big but it is FUN and most all the streets are numbered :D, which makes it easy just count the numbers up or down to get back to where you need to . If you buy stuff you may have to pay NY sales tax but you can claim it back at the airport before you leave , I think it has to be over a certain amount to claim back but I am not sure.

The duty to import stuff is 16.5% but I think there is an exemption if your traveling soon you would need to check that .

Realistically, I cant see myself making my way to NY by myself, and I would be too stressed leaving the kids & dh (on our first & only os holiday) to go jewellery shopping.

Hi Sharon- I just bought a facets eternity band and this is what I can tell you. The diamonds were amazing!. I ordered a G-H VS band of 2.20 cts. because my
diamond is a J so I really didnt need the higher color. Each stone was to be .10 for a size 7. This saved over 1000.00 on their higher grade stone band. They
sent me a ring with 2.31 cttw and f-g vvs-vs stones. Same price, higher carat weight and higher grade stones. The ring was amazing except for one thing. It felt
a little scratchy on my finger. Where the prong came down and met the bottom of the band it was not rounded. I called them and they said they could smooth it
out for me, so I sent it back. I havent received it yet so we will see. The price difference between a Memoire was over 7000.00. I couldnt justify that even though
their rings are amazing.

Thanks so much Luv2sparkle, thats the sort of first hand detail that I was wanting to hear.

I dont think I would be able to justify a Memoire band either. Im sure that I would be thrilled with the Facets if I ever got one.

BTW, why did they send you a higher grade ring with more carats? Was it because they are particularly hard on their own gradings??

My husband has a supplier like that where their gradings are always very hard and the stones used in their pieces are somewhat higher than stated.

We dont sell their stuff so it might be ok for me to mention them just for eye candy interest: This manafacturer uses really beautiful diamonds. Even their worst P1 are like SI. And I have a little order from them  coming soon!!!!!!!! Its 2 eternity bands for my engagement ring!!!!!!
www.lesterbrand.com

Anyway, its nice of you to share your experience and I cant wait for photos.

Last questions.....did they send it to you in the mail, how did you know your size? Did they get your size right? Can you wear it on both  hands? For me I cant as my right hand is 1 size bigger.

Hi Sharon!

I think they sent a better quality of diamonds because that is what they could source in the 3-4 weeks delivery time. They didnt tell me that, its just a guess. I
remember on other post from someone who said they got a slightly higher carat weight too. So instead of 10 pointers some were 11. They did mail it to me
by Fed Ex and I paid extra for overnight. When I sent it back though I sent it register and insured by USPS priority and they havent got it yet. I had heard that
registered takes much longer but is the safest. When I ordered I did it on line and I knew my size, I ordered the same as my e-ring. I am actually going to stack
three rings, my solitare, a 5 stone (1 carat) and the eternity. I like a lot of bling! I can barely wear it on my right hand-that finger is a little bigger.
Congrats on your new bands, I cant wait to see them. I am so lame I havent yet learned how to add the photos, but I will! Hopefully, it wont take toooo long!

I have an A. Link eternity band. It's just gorgeous, and beautifully made. I never thought I'd want an eternity band, but this is as comfortable as a plain band (just over 4 carats, round stones). The diamonds are set very flat, not at all bulky or chunky. I got it at a store in DC. I took it to an independent appraiser, and she said the quality was stellar. You can see them here:

the A. link ring is awesome too. I may have to look it up at Kevin Main in San Luis Obispo when I am there in August. Beautiful

OMG Sharon! I love those heart band!!!!! I am such a heart girl and those bands with the little heart shaped stones sent my heart aflutter!!!! Now I have a reason
to travel to Sydney!!! I am definitely bookmarking that site!!! Now I really cant wait to see your bands. I didnt see any shared prong on their site but if those bands are any indication OMG Congrats!

My eternity bands are from their `generic` range. That is a secondary range that we have access to. It is not as high end as the branded stuff, which I admit.... is totally gorgeous!!!!

Hi Sharon, you are going to have so much fun jewellery shopping in LA (word of advice though, leave the darling husband and the children at the hotel).  They get too bored I know mine did.  We went to Hawaiii (Waikiki last March and I  was determined to get to a US Tiffany's and Harry Winston, Ala Moana).  I was in heaven absolutety amazing.  So sorry now I didn't buy anything at Tiffany's our dollar was almost parity at the time.  It was so much cheaper than our Tiffany's in Collins Street.   Nevermind a good excuse for another holiday!!!!!!!!

You ladies have got me a bit concerned with all the talk of eternity bands.   I am considering an eternity band - approx 1.80ct 6 x 30 pointers, at the moment from a Melbourne jeweller, do you think the diamonds are too big to go with a solitaire setting?  I could always just wear it on it's own.  If it didn't suit I would just have to get a smaller band more suited, now that wouldn't be too much of a tragedy now would it.....

Monnyjay, you didnt say what size your solitare diamond is but it doesnt sound to big. I have a 1.7 and if I didnt have a 5 stone with 20 pointers I would have loved to have a eternity ring with that size, but its a third band for me so I went with the 10-11 pointers. Guess it depends on how much bling you like. Some
ladies here like beautiful delicate bands to go with their solitare. For me, the bigger the better. Totally taste, whatever you like.

I do agree that the size of an eternity band is a matter of taste. But many people like the e-ring and the w-band to be the same thickness (or height) off the finger. If you get an eternity band with large stones, it is likely to sit higher than the e-ring shank, and the diamonds might scratch the e-ring prongs. My band with the 10 point stones (Memoire) sits low enough to work with the e-ring, but that 15 point band did not fit with it at all. It was just a bit loose on my e-ring finger and a bit too snug on my right hand, so that is why I didn't keep it.

~~~ When in doubt...don't.~~~
