I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I got my ears pierced (for the first time) in October 2008 so they're still pretty sensitive and I really don't want to change them often. I work in the food service industry so I can only wear small stud earrings to work. Since I got my ears pierced I've been wearing a cheap set of gold plated earrings with a single fake pearl. I love the look, but when I took them out to clean today one of the pearls popped out of earring and I could see the gold plating was already wearing off the post. Clearly it's time to trade in for some quality earrings! My question is, what would you ladies recommend for someone with newly pierced ears that will hold up well for daily wear? I was thinking a pair of diamond bezels might do the trick. Any other thoughts? |

Ohhh, I think diamond bezels would be PERFECT!!! ![]() Here are some by Whiteflash. They start at $450.00 for a 0.25 ctw pair in 18k gold (G, SI), and go up to $4,320.00 for a 1.50 ctw pair in platinum (I, SI). Have fun shopping!!!

I second the WF bezels. These are on my personal own as soon as humanly possible list. ![]() The nice thing about them too is that since they have the martini style back, they'll snuggle into your ear a bit, keeping things from snagging if you have to wear a net/hat/apron etc. I used to get my apron hung up on my earrings when I was working at Starbucks and it drove me up the WALL! Let us know what you decide! ETA: I'd go with the platinum if you can swing it so you don't risk irritating your newly pierced ears! Run turkey, RUN! (Little man in the avatar is my nephew.) |

How newly pierced? and how fat is your lobe? and how much wax production do you have? now these are questions to answer silently... I really DONT want to know the answer. The reason I bring them up is that with fresh pierced ears, thicker lobes, and a lot of wax, is like a recipe for those suckers wanting to close up. Go ahead and get a fancy pair of earrings, but also buy another starter set... this can help you... re-open what your body is trying to close. Now, on the the fun stuff. Bezels are really fun! They also can make the diameter of the diamond appear larger... which I'm totally all for. I am also quite fond of the martini style diamond earring. I would go with what speaks to you. Have fun! I love jewelry shopping!

I think the whiteflash bezels that Irishgirl linked are perfect. BUT, i wouldn't get them in white gold for a new and sensitve piercing. Yellow gold or platinum would be a better choice I think.

My youngest daughter (18) has a problem with her holes closing, and the best solution we've found is for her to wear 14k gold small huggies. They are just big enough to allow a little breathing space, but are extremely comfortable to wear 24/7 including in the shower and to bed. She tolerates white gold fine. My other daughter has basically the same pair in yellow gold for the same purpose, as she's more sensitive to metals. Huggies don't poke your head while you're sleeping. Think very small.

I wore 14k yellow gold ball studs for years as basic earrings. Diamond studs need to be removed and cleaned. If you aren't inclined to do that, get all metal earrings. I definitely think that gold plate is too cheap for new piercings. Your ears are worth more than that. Go with solid gold. ****** Life is a Journey, not a Destination. ****** |

I like these for cute but plain everyday earrings. They'd work for newly pierced earrings if you get a lot of junk in your new piercing. http://www.bluenile.com/gold-ball-earrings_6497?nav1=jewelry_segment.jsp&show_all_pages=1&catid=58&set_shape=

Thank you all for your suggestions. I decided to put the diamond bezels on hold for now. I got a lot of new jewelry over the holidays and the bank book really doesn't need another hit just yet! I loved the gold balls Lyra, Fly Girl and Addy suggested so I went to the mall to see what I could find. I know, I know... never trust a mall store... But I needed earrings fast before the holes started closing up! And how hard could it be to find simple gold ball studs? Not even a mall store could mess that up! Right? The first place I went to had just what I was looking for, but the price was outrageous for 10K gold. The saleslady told me they don't make earrings in a higher karat grade there or anywhere else. I thanked her for her time, grabbed my husband and bolted. In the second store, I found the same earrings in 14K for a lower price than the first store. Unfortunately none of the salesladies thought it was worth their time to come around. I waited about a minute or two while they chatted together behind the counter and left. Finally I lucked out in the third store. The salesman was attentive and he found me a perfect pair. And here they are:

Very nice choice! Gold balls are classic and always in style! I am pretty sure my first pair was gold balls and I wore them all the time!
