It's a weekend alone at Casa Circe - Odysseus is away on business. After all of the holiday travel and concomitant company, it's almost jarring to have so much silence. So hit me with suggestions! What do you do to luxuriate in solitude? And I do mean solitude - no suggestions of Girls Nights!

Well seeing as I am alone almost every day and night with the exception of visits with my friends and family, I can probably offer some suggestions :)

I love taking nice, hot baths with eucylyptis oil (I think I spelled that incorrectly). I make a big pot of tea and lie in bed with a good book or magazine. I put on some soothing music like Katie Melua and turn off all the lights, and sit on the couch and watch the city lights. I order food in and rent movies if I am being really lazy. And I spend a lot of time on the computer obviously ! I love my solitude, but I have always been a bit of a hermit!

Beauty nights are great:  Hair mask, Face mask, Foot treatments, Mani & Pedi at home, all over fake tan, all over moisturise, big mirror & tweezers...get plucking...mmmmmh!

PJ's & No make up from the moment you get in.

Cleaning & Organising - finally you can reorganise your filing cabinet, clean the oven, de-scale the kettle, bleach the shower tiles....!

Teach the dog a new trick - you certainly have time!

Organise your closet & send the excess to charity...so cleansing....

Get little dumbbell weights and work your arms while you watch TV - nobody will mock you!  (except the dogs.)

Make a list of all the movies you wanted to watch but were scared to suggest because they are too childish/girlie etc and start renting them!

Find a great place to hike – if the weather is great.

Bake a new recipe –sweet or savoury, you decide.

Circe, you may have so much fun you request more alone time.

My favorite "alone things:"

- Window shopping at an outdoor mall
- Scratch that--window shopping everywhere!
- PS
- Give myself a mani-pedi
- Watch a bunch of Sex & the City episodes
- Make a cake or brownies for my friends, or for him when he returns
- Call everyone I know and give them updates on my life, and vice versa
- Clean my room (unless it was cleaned yesterday, it needs cleaning)
- READ.
- Read in a warm, relaxing, bubbly tub
- Play the piano
- Watch a favorite movie
- Run errands (I save the icky ones for last)
- Work on upcoming trials (disclaimer, this does not count as a favorite Alone Thing, it's just something that needs to be done--it's position at the bottom of this life was no accident.)

If I am lazy, I watch TV.  I dont get to do it much since I run all my free time.

If I am feeling like I want the silence, I'll read a book.

If I am feeling crazy, I put on some music and dance - like something in a Girls Just Want To HAve Fun video montage.

If I am feeling in tune w myself, I'll write poetry or journal... to track finances, life goals, etc.

Enjoy this time... it isn't often you get to hear yourself think!

Hmmm...spa activities, painting my own fingers or toes, face mask, bubble bath, etc...

watching silly, girly movies and/or TV

reading a book in a comfy chair with a mug of something warm and tasty

cooking food that only I like

taking a quiet walk on a nice day

spending extra hours volunteering at the local animal shelter
