Has anyone read any books by Antoinette Matlins? I see she has a few books on diamonds and also pearls, gemstones, etc...

It is far more balanced than Fred cuellars 'buy from me book', but has a rather web 0.5 stilted traditinal view of the world.
We really should write a PScope diamond book

I have her book on IDing Gemstones which is useful as a textbook.

I'm not very keen on any of the others - ditto for Renee Newman.

I have not, but she strikes me as an insufferable know-it-all. Please correct me if my impression is wrong.

I don't want to turn this into another Fred thread but I don't get why he is so disliked. I actually started reading about him here, on pricescope, and what most people had to say was that he is a crook and he wants you to buy diamonds from him and him only. I briefly read about him keeping investers money or something like that but how does that have anything to do with his knowledge of diamonds? I also have to say that if I sold diamonds for a living your damn right I would want everyone to buy from me too. I know it sounds like I am defending him...I guess I haven't drawn a conclusion on him yet. Most people have joined the bash Fred bandwagon and really have no experience dealing with him...or I should say I haven't yet read a post about someone buying a diamond from him and it going horribly wrong. Anyway, I thought he had some decent info on diamonds in his book and that is why I asked about Matlins. I wanted to compare what he had to say with other sources. I recieved an email from Gemstonepress offering a few of her books at a discount and wondered if I should bite.
