Hello!

I have some questions about rose quartz.  When I was on vacation in Cozumel, I saw a really cool ring with a huge oval rose quartz set in rose gold and small diamonds on the shank.  The price was outrageous, so I left it there!  But I would love to get a rose quartz to set myself.  One question is what are the characteristics of a good example of rose quartz?  It's all extremely inexpensive.  And how can I tell if it is setable? So many of them are so huge.

How does this one look?  At 4.18ct 12.24 x 9.71 x 6.02 mm, does it seem able to fit into any standard setting?

Thank you so much for any advice, comments, or suggestions!!!

The colour looks good.  However, I think I see a window; somehow, I don't think it's a result of a tilted view.

How about this one?

And what makes this one soooooo much more expensive? The translucency probably, right?

I have one of Richard Homer's rose quartzes... his stones are at premium prices because of the cut, really. I will say that it absolutely glows from the inside, like it has glowing embers underneath the pink. It's amazing. But yes, it looks like the rough he was working there was excellent as well.

ETA: The first that you posted is really beautiful as well, IMO.
