I thought I'd post this in the LIW board because I get more support over here than on any other side. Yesterday, I found out my Great Uncle (which happens to be my Mom's Godfather) went into cardiac arrest. They revived him once but wouldn't do it again. Right now he is in a coma and hanging on by a thread......  They were going to take him off the respirator last night I believe, we haven't heard anything yet... Now today, I come into work and I find out my 'big boss' is gone. I.E. either fired or she quit. I'm not really sure yet. My co-workers know all about it but wont tell me until lunch which is stressing me out big time even more. (I've only been here 4 months) so I am worried they will lay me off. Co-workers say I wont get laid off. They told me this because they know I was laid off at my last job. I guess they know all about what happened because it stems from before I was here.....omg! Anyway, we have a meeting with 'big BIG boss' in an hour so I have no idea what's going on and what's going to happen. I feel all shaky and nervous......

dreamgirl - good luck! hopefully it will be a smooth transition at work. My company does things like that all the time which seem shaky, but in the end turn out okay. I hope your uncle stays in peace and is comfortable. I know its hard to wait on the side lines..

Sweetiepie, try to collect yourself. Do some deep breathing if you have to. Remember, nothing has happened yet. Wait for your meeting and then figure out what's what. Especially since you have personal matters that are affecting you right now...you need to be calm for your own sanity. OMG dreamgirl! Sorry to hear that you are experiencing these difficulties! The only thing that I can tell you is that regardless of whatever circumstances you endure, you will survive! (easier said than done....I know because I have my own life issues that I am dealing with). Hopefully your meeting goes well... *Hugs* -PD

Hugs and best wishes, DreamGirl. I'll keep your Great Uncle and job security in my thoughts today. ETA: Please keep us posted on the meeting and whether it addressed your concerns. Hopefully the answer about your boss's departure isn't too bad and that the company can still maintain its current payroll.

But for your own sake you need to relax yourself. If you feel the need to (and can) go grab some tea or something to eat. Take a little break...no harm in that. OR concentrate on the work in front of you and that might make time go by faster. Awww, DG! What a crappy week for you.  Try and relax. I know easier said than done, but worrying never did anyone any good. Don't cry! It's so cold the tears might freeze to your face! Thank you everyone! I've read ALL of your replies and I appreciate all the support. I will keep in mind everything you have said...I will also let you know what happens today. Stay tuned. Keep your fingers crossed. My Mom just let me know that they actually just now took my Uncle off the respirator and he is struggling to breathe so now it's only a matter of time.... Thank you ladies. It means A LOT to me. I emailed S about it. He is so sweet, look what he said: "Wow that’s surprising; maybe their making some budget cuts to try to stay afloat. Hang in there; you’ll have to let me know what happens. These are very uncertain times for a lot of people right now just do your best and work on as much as you can and try to stay upbeat. I love you too. Keep the little head up."  When he says 'little head' that's just a nickname he has for me..along with 'little person' 'little body' lol. His email made me smile. Back from the meeting. Well, I wasn't laid off or anything. 'big BIG boss' just told us 'big boss' resigned yesterday. She wants to hire someone new but we are currently in a hiring freeze so she needs to talk to another HUGE boss to see if they can unfreeze the position. She also mentioned some of us moving around because where I work is a big place with different departments- my department is separated. 'big boss' used to be downstairs from us so 'big BIG boss' wants the new hire to be upstairs with us. But there isn't space so there would be moving around...etc...etc. She said my particular office wouldn't be moved though. I hope not, I have an awesome view. I also still hope they wont lay me off with these changes to come. So, I get back to the office and my 2 co-workers were discussing how they don't know who to believe bla bla. They still wont tell me really what went down but I want them to tell me. We all might go out to lunch and my other boss might tell me then about it. So, I'm still stressed because THEY ALL know but me....You know?

I'm sorry about your great uncle...it sounds like a really hard situation, and I hope your family gets through this time as easily as possible. I hope you find out about what happened at work soon. I'd be annoyed by them not telling me, too.

Back from lunch. No changes with my Uncle yet. Co-workers and boss told me only A LITTLE bit of what went down. Apparently 'big boss' and 'big BIG boss' didn't get along that well. I didn't really know much being the 'new guy' and all. There is some 'legal' stuff they tell me they can't share (but they wish they could) Perhaps they will tell me after this other co-worker of mine isn't around. There are 4 of us in the office. So we will have to wait and see. Something BIG must have happened. Hopefully it wont affect me or my position. I'll have to keep an eye out for the next few weeks. I don't know, I really liked my 'big boss' I thought she was great. My boss and one co-worker liked her a lot. Other co-worker didn't like her (I had no idea!!) This is why I think when he isn't around, my boss and other co-worker might tell me more. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the support everyone, I REALLY REALLY appreciate it.
