Which setting looks better? I want a round center stone with baguettes. Should it have a basket or just the V shape holding the round center stone. I think I like the V shape without the basket. I am hearing that its looks better with the baguettes and more secure with the basket holding the diamond. What do you guys think?

I think its really a question of personal taste - I personally prefer the basket, but if you prefer the v-prongs (I'm sure that's not the technical term ) that's what you should go with

The classic round with baguette setting will have the basket. I think it is a beautiful setting! To me, it wouldn't look right without the basket. The side of the basket is aligned with the sides holding the baguettes. Here is the Vatche setting which belongs to one of our members, asscherisme: ![]()

Do you know the carat of the center stone in the picture above?

Here is a pic from the side view with a basket. Do you guys think that with a basket it blocks the diamond. Does anyone have a pic of a ring that is a round brilliant with tapered without the basket? ![]()

I'm not entirely sure what you're getting at, but let me show you some examples of different styles of tapered baguette rings. 1) First option - baguettes set high, almost reaching the girdle of the center stone. 2) Second option - baguettes set lower, in the shank of the ring with the center stone higher (I actually prefer this option over #1 even though 1 is more classic; is that what you mean by "without a basket?"). 3) Third option - Trellis setting with baguettes; I don't like this one as much because the baguettes are too wide for my tastes. I like my baguettes teeny tiny and long. 4) This one is similar to #2, but I like it a little better because it seems to be a little more streamlined and has tiny baguettes.

I prefer the basket to the V shape. My ring, round with baguettes, has the basket. The setting should be replaced but I'm having trouble finding a setting with the basket that I like so I've always thought the V shape setting was the easier one to find.

I vote for the "V" setting - I have a variant of this (I think), and I love how open the setting is. Attaching a pic to make sure we're talking about the same thing ....

Thank you so much for the pic. That is what I was trying to describe with a "V" prong VS with a Basket. I can't decide which one I like more. Lets take a poll. I need more opinions.
