I DID IT!   Last night I had an Ebay offer accepted. The third stone was the charm.  I had a terrible dream though, that it arrived and was not cut well and had detracting speckles throughout! The photos really weren't very clear... oh my, now I'm second-guessing myself!  I will be on pins and needles until it arrives. Thanks to all who sent advice, though. I tried to remember it all.  More when it finally arrives, and photos of course.

Oops I forgot the detail:  ".80 OEC, VS2, at least H in color" per seller.  He assures me it's quite sparklie and I will be pleased.
But of course the seller would say that, right??

Remember that you'll fully check it out when it arrives, and if it's not what you want it can go right back!!! Which one was it?

Ooooo, I hope you love it!

I was having trouble linking the listing, but here is the info and hopefully the pic shows too. Though it's not the clearest!

Wow! I see alot of European cut diamonds in the estate jewelry business, and usually they have something undesireable about them. This one is beautiful. It weighs .80cts and is at the very least VS  clarity, and G-H in color. It measures just over 6mm in diameter. There is a very tiny chip on the very edge that can only be seen upside down with very strong magnification, and will easily fit under a prong. If you love the old European cuts as much as I do, you'll love this one. S&H is $10.00 which includes insurance.
Returns are accepted (7) only if the color, clarity, or weight has been mistated as per my listing. This must be verified from a GIA graduate, gemologist, or jewelry store on paper to support the return. I have had my experts look and it is at least VS/H at a minimum. IT'S A REAL BEAUTY!!!!!

His email after the acceptance states:  You will be very happy with this diamond, its eveything I say...

Cost was 1100, which was more than I wanted to get it for, but still within budget, so ff was happy enough with the price. He knows nothing about diamonds and such, so is trusting my judgement. Hope I did ok.  Highlighted part has me just a tad concerned.

You did? I can see how "ebaying" could easily become addictive!

I actually made offers on 2 others first that were a bit larger, though lower in color. But you know the saying about third one being the charm, right?  Well, I'm still hoping it's true in this case. I might have it sent directly to an appraiser first, though to make sure it's as good as I'm hoping.  Very nerve wracking time right now, so I appreciate your note.

Are you looking for an OEC too?

I'm always looking for an OEC

I had that one in my watch list and when I saw the user name of the person who won it, it reminded me of you. Plus I've been following your hunt so it wasn't too hard to guess.

When do you expect it to arrive?

I would have said "It should appear in a day or two." EXCEPT for the stupid Paypal thing. I am still waiting for my account to be verified or some such thing. What a hassle that has been! Last time I bought on Ebay, I mailed a money order to the seller and it was much simpler.  So, to answer your question: I'm hoping within a week to have it to me or the appraiser, as I may have it sent directly there.

I have a hunch this may not be my last ebay purchase, but I have learned soooo much from it and will do it better next time around.
Thanks for asking.
