Hi, I'm fairly new to PS and wanted to thank everyone for their contributions. There's definitely a wealth of knowledge here (that I've been doing my best to try to soak up) and I definitely appreciate everyone who puts time into making this forum great. I'm a few months away from actually buying, but I went ahead and started the search about a month ago. I found these two stones. They both seem abnormally cheap for what they are. So I hoping to either A: figure out why they're cheap and learn something new and important about diamonds in the process or B: find out that one's a really good deal and scoop it up in the next few months. Here's the first: http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1193832.asp?b=16&a=12&c=77&cid=131 It scored a 1.1 on the HCA and appears to have really good angles and percentages. Shape: Round Carat weight: 0.51 Cut: Hearts & Arrows Ideal Color: H Clarity: VS2 Certificate: AGS Depth: 61.5% Table: 55.0% Polish: Ideal Symmetry: Ideal Girdle: Thin to slightly thick Culet: None Fluorescence: Neglible Measurements: 5.11*5.16*3.16 Crown Angle: 34.5° Crown %: 15.60 pavilion Angle: 40.8° pavilion %: 43.00 And here's the second: http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/Whiteflash-ACA-cut-diamond-1848231.htm# It's an ACA, so it has to be great, right? Well, it's a good amount cheaper than most other superideal .6's. Registers a 1.5 on the HCA. . Shape: Whiteflash ACA . Carat: 0.621 . Depth %: 61.8 . Table %: 56.4 . Crown Angle: 34.8 . Crown %: 15.2 . Star : 52 . Pavilion Angle: 40.8 . Pavilion %: 43 . Lower Girdle %: 77 . Girdle: Thin to Slightly Thick Faceted . Measurements: 5.45-5.48X3.38 . Light Performance: 0 . Polish: Ideal . Symmetry: Ideal . Culet: Pointed . Fluorescence: Negligible Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out! |

The .51 does not sound abnormally cheap to me. The .6 WF one... you should ask WF about the price.

Hi sunkend, I did a little calculation on both diamonds through http://www.pricescope.com/cutadviser.asp The first stone costs $ 1280 and scored a 1.3 on the HCA while the second stone costs $1663 and scored a 1.5 on the HCA. They both are good choice IMHO. Personally, I would go for the vendor that has better upgrade policy, just in case you decides to get a bigger diamond for any reason... I hope this helps, good luck. Either could be great, depends also if you want the branded ACA or the JA diamond. ![]() Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse.
