Hi, A few years ago I saw the ring of my dreams on a reputable estate jeweler's website online. It was a stunning original Art Deco setting, with detailed engraving of a flower and leaves with a round brilliant diamond. It is the ring of my dreams, and no longer available from the dealer. I live in New York and I am looking for a recommendation for a custom jeweler to reproduce this ring. I do not want a hack job - I am looking for a very skilled craftsman. I have read many great things about Leon Mege, but I'm not sure his style is exactly what I want. I am looking for a talented craftsman who is especially great at reproducing Edwardian and Art Deco styles. Also, if any one has recommendations on places to buy loose diamonds in the Diamond district, I would appreciate a referral. Thank you. |

Hi Piglet, There is jeweler called Little King in the East Village that does nice custom work with engraving. I am not sure how detailed their engraving can get, but Michael and Jennifer are very nice and I am sure would be willing to discuss with you. Website: http://www.littlekingjewelry.com/ My fiancee's ring by them http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=81889 Good luck with your search.

Hi Piglet, For what it's worth, I'm having Leon do an Art Deco setting. "The greatest experts are only as good as the sum total of what they have seen." (Souren Melikian) |

If you do a search for Single Stone here, or go to their website, they have literally cases of Art Deco and Edwardian style reproduction settings and I'm sure if you could either draw or articulate your design to them, they could make it. Their work is exceptional. They re-sized an antique eternity band for me, re-did the engraving on the new portions, you couldn't tell the ring had been worked on with your naked eye. They do incredibly fine work. I'd start there.

Thanks, Surfgirl. I went to the website and they have gorgeous designs. I was hoping to find a place in New York City, where I live. If you have any suggestions, please let me know! Thanks!

Did you check the Van Craeynest website? It's not really Art Deco, but there are leaves and flowers?

If anyone else has recommendations for jewelers in New York specializing in Art Deco repros, I would really love to hear!
