I have been a browser of this board for quite some time now, probably at least a year, and I loved drooling over all of the gorgeous engagement and wedding rings that everyone shared. Well, I finally joined the club last week, when the love of my life and my best friend proposed to me. I want to share my story and the pics of the gorgeous ring that he worked so hard for. My now fiance, Luigi, had surprised me 2 weeks prior to proposing with a brochure that he designed in Powerpoint for a weekend getaway for the two of us. We were going to be staying at The Lodge at Turning Stone, which turned out to be the most amazing hotel I've ever stayed in. On the drive there, the plan was that we would also be stopping by the Lights on the Lake show at Onondaga Lake. We drove through the Christmas lights for about 15 or 20 minutes, enjoying the sights, when he started to tell me how much he loves me, that I'm his best friend, and that he wants to spend the rest of his life with me. I wasn't suspecting that he would be proposing, since he says sweet things like that to me often, besides the fact that we were driving in a car. The next thing I remember, I saw a big banner that said "Sarah, Will you marry me? Luigi" and it was wrapped in Christmas Lights in the shape of a bow. I was in shock, when he told me to get out of the car. So, he parked, we got out, he got down on one knee, and asked me to be his wife with a ring in his hand. I couldn't even bring myself to look at the ring yet, so I kissed him, told him "of course" and we held onto each other for awhile. Then he put the ring on my finger, and all the while, cars were slowly driving by. People were seeing the banner and us, and some of them rolled down their windows to say, "Are you Sarah and Luigi?" or "Did she say yes?" or "Congratulations! That's so romantic!" Luigi designed the banner himself and had emailed it to the place who then had it made. We get to keep it and we'll be putting it up at our wedding! We spent the rest of the weekend relaxing at the hotel and enjoying our time together as a newly engaged couple. Below are pics of my ring. Here are the specs that I know: .75 ct, H color, Very Good cut, SI1, Tiffany style and cathedral setting, .38 in the band for a total of 1.13 ctw, Size 6 ring Sorry for all the pics, but that's the reason we're all here, right? I hope you all enjoy. I'm completely in love with it and I just can't stop staring at it. I have never worn a ring on my left ring finger, so it felt weird for awhile. We are so happy and we've started researching some reception sites to have the wedding. We're planning on getting married July 10, 2010. I'll have to post more pics when we get the matching wedding band. I just can't wait to get it, so we've decided to go on Monday to buy it.
