Hello!

So my girlfriend accepted my engagement ring from Whiteflash, and I am now engaged! Hooray! Of course, now it is time to do the re-sizing, and I need some advice...

She has a 5.5 size pave setting, and it fits a little tight. We went to a local jeweler, who measured her finger and recommended a "scant 6." I guess this means size 6, but a titch under.

I could send it back to WF to get it re-sized, but this will take 7-12 business days to turn around, plus I will have to pay for the insured shipping. Or, I could get it re-sized at a local jeweler for cheaper and turn it around in a day or so.

My question is: which of these routes should I take, and why? I feel like there are probably factors that I have not considered to this decision, and I hope to soak up your knowledge and advice. Thank you!!!

Ben

Send it to Whiteflash. If you have anyone else work on then you loose any and all warranties on the stone and setting. It is simply not worth the risk.

PS sometimes you can overnight things VIA fedex. I have done that before, but it assumes you have outside insurance coverage.

Ditto. This is your setting, right?

Sleek Line Pave' Diamond Engagement Ring

The fact that it is pave' gives all the more reason to send it back to WF. It can be tricky to resize without compromising the integrity of the stones' setting. Most local jewelers won't have much better turnaround, anyway. Send it back.

Yes, that is my setting...the WF sleek line pave.

Thank you both for your advice - I didn't know all the details of the warranties, etc. involved with having anyone else work on the stone.

For my own clarification, what warranties, etc. do I stand to lose if anyone else works on the ring? I know this isn't a WF board, but I'm hoping someone knows the specifics because I can't find them on whiteflash.com...

Thanks!

Check out the WF FAQ's page:
http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds_info/t/faq.aspx?articleid=374&zoneid=6

this is what it says:
Lifetime Warranty

Every piece of jewelry we produce meets our strict standards for quality control. Though warranted, the normal examination period is an ideal time for you to become assured of the quality of the workmanship.

If you need to return an item after your purchase is complete it will be fully inspected. If it is found to be defective due to manufacturing we will cover the charges. However, if work is required due to wear and tear or after the item has been worked on by an outside jeweler (other than Whiteflash) you may incur a charge for the repair and shipping.

Work by an outside jeweler will void the lifetime warranty.
