Ive been a longtime lurker on this site trying to learn about a e-ring purchase. Running out of time before christmas, i thought diamond studs would be a good christmas gift and see if I actually learned anything. So I shopped around, and finally settled on these studs at union diamond. It was a little unsettling to buy something that i could not see as they did not have pictures available for me, but it was gia cert, numbers *seemed* ok to me. Anyway, to make a long story short, they got here yesterday and here they are... What do you guys think? I am a bit worried they are a bit smaller than I expected. Here are the specs:

GIA cert
0.36 / 0.37
Color H / H
Clarity VS2 / SI1
Cut Very good / Very good
polish very good / Very good
symm good / good
flour none / none

Hi Frugal,

I take it the proportions of the diamonds are unavailable as these are preset, such as depth, table, angles etc?  We need the diameters to check the sizing, but sometimes it can be a surprise if you haven't bought many diamonds to see them in actual size!  It depends on whether you like the diamonds, it is hard to advise as we don't have any info to really go on....How do they look in different lighting, do they come alive much or not?

I wouldn't be that worried about the size, as long as they are sparkly and full of life when you look at them.  Try looking at them in various lighting conditions (inside, outside, direct light, diffused light, etc) to see what they look like.

Thanks for the responses. As har as how well it shines, its hard to say, only diamonds i have really seen close up in person were in mall jewelry stores where i looked mostly at the HoF or Leo, etc. I also looked at teh non-certified, but alot of those seemd to have some blemishes that were visible even to my novice eye. Compared to the premium cut line did seem to shine and sparkle more but the lighting was also very different than inside my house. that is another concern of mine. Will try and take some pictures under different lighting conditions later this evening.

Here are some of the dimensions:

#1
measurement 4.55 - 4.6 x 2.79
table 60%
depth 61%
crown 34%
pavillion 41.2%
thin-sl thick(faceted)

#2
measurement 4.59 - 4.63x2.81
table 60%
depth 61%
crown 33.5%
pavillion 41.2%
sl thick-thick

Thanks.  They aren't cut to top standards as you probably know but for earrings they are probably bright looking diamonds, probably not the best for fire but if you are happy with them then that is the main thing.

Diamond studs are a wonderful Christmas gift!   As for looking small, I think you'll find they seem bigger once on the ear.   Come back with ear shots!
