we braved the road to hana. what an experience . what they don't tell you, is that once you GET to hana, the only way back to your hotel, is to go BACK the way you came. and hopefully you make it before dark. there's no lights out there. this was one of my favorite sights on the road to hana. painted eucalyptus tree. this is how they occur naturally! ![]()

black volcanic rock, blue water, green earth. the colors are stunning. in the background, you can see the road to hana cutting through the land. ![]()

on top of the volcanic rock near the black sand beach. this is truly where you see the fury of mother nature. the water was slamming against the land so hard and so furiously. it was capping over the land. an unbelievable site. i could have watched it for hours. ![]()

site from our private cabana at our hotel. to the left is where we'd snorkel in the mornings. the water was SO calm. the only small break was right at the beach. it was still and calm other than that.![]()

OMG - I love it Jcrow!! I'm looking at your pics and I could've sworn they were ours from our honeymoon last year! We have some of the same ones from the road to Hana (the lava rock on the beach, the eucalyptus tree - that smell amazing BTW, Mama's Fish House and the black sand beach). I'm so happy you guys loved the Four Seasons too!! My co-worker is planning her honeymoon to Hawaii and I'm insisting she stays there! They literally take care of everything for you and I loved the location of the hotel too!BTW - DH and I went to Mama's Fish House a few times too - we STILL rave about that place! Did you guys go to any other islands??

that's SO funny blushingbride! no, sadly, we didn't get to take in any other islands. we were going to visit oahu, but our plane was majorly delayed, so instead, we sat at the maui airport for 8+ hours.

Ugh..8 hours in the airport - not fun! What did you think about biking down the volcano? Were you a wuss like I was? Once I got the hang of it, I was fine, but for the first few miles I was a nervous wreck!

JCrow- Gorgeous pics! Like Blushing, we spent part of our honeymoon on Maui and your pics look like so many of ours (but you are a much better photographer than me, my dear!) That tree is my DH's absolute favorite too! Can I tell you how many pictures we have of it? Too many. If you ever do go back, we did the road to Hana, but we stayed at the hotel there- the Hotel Hana. Wow, it was soo amazing, we never wanted to leave. Felt like camp, stayed in this amazing "cottage" (but it was really nice) right on the ocean, with horses cruising around in front of it. The restaurant there was amazing too. In case you ever want to go back! They are supposed to have a great spa too, but we ran out of time.

Gorgeous pics J! I read the previous thread where you were trying to decide where to go. I forget though, what was it that made you decide to go to Maui instead of another island? I've never been to Hawaii, but it's my dream vacation. I have no idea how to make the decision of where to go though.
