I couldn't convince hubby on the 2.21 oec, but I had this baby in fall back position. It is a 1.07 M antique cut stone that is beautiful. It is currently set in a modern bridge type setting that is an interesting counterpoint to the vintage stone, but I'm looking at eventually resetting it as an RHR. I'd like to bezel or prong it in yellow gold to bring out the color. Combining it with colored stones is intriguing. Other than that, I'm pretty open, although I usually find that for me Less is More.

I'd love to hear/see your ideas.

Here's a pic that shows more of its body color.

Gorgeous stone! Could it maybe have some florescence?

As for how to set it ... hm. I'd be seriously tempted by the prospect of something like Coatimundi's gorgeous James Meyer bezel, maybe in a rich, buttery, high karat yellow gold? Possibly with a "cup" beneath the stone to enhance the color even further?

Since it is an antique cut, I personally would go for something with a more vintage flavor. Perhaps a nice two-tone mounting, like fishtail prongs? You already have a halo, or I would suggest one with a yellow gold bezel.

I echo the sentiment. In fact, a Meyer bezel was my first thought and when I went to post I saw it had already been suggested - twice! LOL!

Hey gals! Thanks, I love James Meyer. I'm off to surf their site. And Melissa's right, I don't want to go diamond bezel since I have my bevK. I saw this beauty on Fay Cullen's site and was smitten. Who might be able to do something like this?

I would pair that baby with some blue sapphires!! Some half moons would be great in a two tone setting with some filligree detail on it....

where did you get the stone?

This was initially an ebay find. And individual was selling this ring of her grandmother's. I wish I still had the original listing photo because this thing was butt ugly, and filthy to boot!! No one bid on it at all, so I sent an offer in and she accepted. I took it in to my jeweler and he was amazed. I was toying with sending it in to GIA to have it graded, but I ended up selling the unset stone this summer to fund a reroofing of our house. Short story long, the buyer had some financial difficulties so I'm buying it back. Here is the stone in its original setting.

I think this looks like Coati's ring. It would be beautiful with the yellow oec, wouldn't it?

James Meyer for sure.  He is backed up until about late January now but his work is well worth the wait.

I love this stone, it's fascinating.  I like the idea of a setting like Coati's too!  Can't wait to see it when it is done!

What about just a basic Leon solitaire with the deep yellow gold basket ala Snoop?

That split shank is lovely!! And I don't think it needs the extra pave. Is that a mount they have available?

This is my current favorite antique style (from Beverley K). You could do the center prong part in YG maybe:

Oh upgradeable,
that is a stunning stone ! I'm so jealous, a JM ring with an OEC is currently my dream project! So obviously I second that idea. Even maybe having some little coloured sapphs to accentuate the colour of the centre.

This is one of my faves, but have it in 18k yellow gold..

However, I really like your Fay Cullen idea too.

Are you interested in an antique repro style? JBEG are great at sourcing  / creating those..

Something like this would be awesome with your stone..If your fond of it I have more pics/profile etc..

And it may not be for everyone, but I'm loving this setting at the moment. This one has rose and green gold, but of course could be changed to yellow..

Can't wait to see what you decide, so exciting

Both of those are beautiful, arjuna! I think I like the first better just because it showcases the stone more. Mine stone only measures just above 6mm in diameter, so less is more. I don't want pave. A couple of accent stones would be okay, but nothing too blingy.

All the settings shown already are gorgeous but I think the JM is the best choice!
