I apologize that I ask more questions then I answer, but you all are so helpful to someone who really isn't sure what they want. After trying to grow my hair out for the wedding, it was getting unruly, not to mention devoid of any style whatsoever. So, I just recently got my hair trimmed/styled, and it's now almost exactly the style Jessica Simpson has in the picture I am posting - exact same length, same layers, same side-swept bang (but opposite side). I am so stumped now what to do with it for my wedding - 3 months away. i know hair grows about half an inch a month, but that's still not the 'long flowing locks' i'd imagined I could work with for my hair. I go between half-up/half-down and a low, relaxed chignon, but I don't know if my hair would be long enough without extensions to pull something like that off. The only thing I know for a fact is that I want my veil over any hairstyle I might have. Anyone have any suggestions? Or any pictures of similar hair length and what you decided to do hairstyle-wise?

You could definitly have a low bun if you wanted. Pull the hair back to just above the nape of the neck and then flare the hair out like a donut and pin into a bun. With long hair, you'd twirl the hair around in a circle and pin to get the bun. My friend has shorter hair than you and was recently in a wedding with a low bun. It was really pretty, and even though it took thirty bobby pins, you couldn't tell that she had short hair.

This would look great and is perfect for the length, b/c you can't tell how long your hair is. I LOVE half up-dos and i think you could get away with one, but it won't have the long flowy look you are talking about unless you get extensions. It could still be really pretty though - a friend of mine had a half up do and her hair wasn't super long - it was still romantic and lovely. Is your hair straight or curly? do you want it sleek, or wavy on the day of? Here's a hair picture that i used once when i was the maid of honor at a wedding...i loved how it turned out. It was very sleek -- and very pretty and stayed completely put all night ;) It's the upper left most corner - i hope you can see the pic OK. ![]()

I'd do a trial with your stylist ... super long hair is as hard to work with when you're talking an updo as super short hair....that length is really good for styling...

Oh, sorry my last picture was so little! This is pretty and still romantic looking, even though her hair isn't super long - yours will grow a bit in the next few months i would assume (maybe not quite as long as hers, but still a good length). You just have to imagine the bangs in there, as she doesn't have any :) ![]()

Cammy, have you thought about just wearing it down and the way you do day-to-day? If your wedding isn't formal, I think this would look really pretty.

Guilty Pleasure - thanks for the advice, i never realize what miracles good hairdressers can do! violet3 - I always am going between all up and half-up. I think I want all-up just because I mess around with it all...the...time. I think if it's down I'll find more excuses to put my hands in it, or even worse, dip it in my dinner or something when I'm not paying attention! My hair is typically pretty straight (though prone to humidity-induced poofyness!) When I had my haircut, it looked EXACTLY like the jessica simpson photo. thank you so much for the picture, it's gorgous! I am really loving the soft updo look...my dress has organza pickups on it which I think lend itself more towards a 'romantic' versus a 'sleek' style. Italia - I have a hair trial scheduled in a couple of weeks, I'm glad you think it's a good length for styling. It makes me feel so much better about it. I am hopinh to have a few inspiration pictures for the trial that would be realistic for what hair I have. IWPO - Your hair is beautiful! I love the look a lot, i hope you don't mind if I save a couple pictures as my own inspiration! ~*~ Invest in the human soul. Who knows, it might be a diamond in the rough. ~*~ |

Marchswallowbird - I have thought a little bit about wearing it down, but there are a couple of things holding me back.. I'm a little worried about all of it getting in my face the day-of, and my hair 'deflating' throughout the course of the day. Also, we're having an evening church wedding with a country club reception afterwards, so I feel like it is a little more on the semi-formal end of the spectrum. I adore some of the all-down hairstyles though as well. Those are totally romantic (and the model on the website in my dress has her hair down as well, so I did consider how much time they spend deciding what looks best with that dress).

I had very similar hair and put it back (low updo) with pincurls, then kept the bangs. I liked it.
