Hello,

I'm shopping for my gf's engagement ring (like so many others here). My question, for now, isn't about the solitaire, but side stones.

I would like a three stone-like setting, probably white gold, possibly platinum. It seems like most settings use round or pear shapes for the side stones.

What are the communities thoughts on:

1) Single side stone versus 3-diamond clusters. For example, http://tinyurl.com/65m5av (it is a HoF setting, but is just an example :).

2) If I do go with single side stones, are there any thoughts on using trillions? I think the rounded edges would go nicely with a round solitaire.

Thanks. (I just found this site earlier this week - great info)
