The drop down menu in the resources section does not list Wisconsin as an option. Does anyone have any recommendations for an independent appraiser in the Madison area?

What are you looking to have appraised? And for what purpose? I'm in Madison and there aren't any here, but there are a number in the north Chicago suburbs. But there are jewelers here I would trust for a basic evaluation like for insurance purposes.

These are the appraiser members or NAJA in Wisconsin, however three are "candidates" which is not necessarily the expertis level you require.  THe one in Milwaukee may be the pick of the four although you have to clarify if this person is "independent" or a retailer who also does appraising.

You can visit the ISA and ASA websites for possibly a couple other choices.

Other than a very small number of AGS-ICGA members, you will find all the rest of AGS "appraisers" are affiliated with retail stores and not "Independent".  They can be highly qualified, but the potential of bias is there even when they are acting in good faith.

AGS-ICGA's are certainly a great additional choice if one is nearby.

Sometimes even when they’re not so nearby.
