I am in the process of buying a diamond, which is intended for an engagement ring. Could everybody please give me their honest opinion on whether this is a good diamond for the price?
I have my mind set on an excellent cut diamond, over a larger diamond.
Do the Hearts and Arrows cut sparkle more than other excellent/ideal cut diamonds? I have done a great deal of research in the past few months on diamonds and this seems to be my perfect diamond. I would like some feedback from the diamond connoisseurs who frequent this forum.

Hi Jason,

I did a quick search via the pricescope search engine and came up with a couple stones in the same weight class as the one your looking at. The average savings from the posted prices were from $800-$1000.00.

For that price I would bet you could get an eye-clean H&A si-1 for a little over the 5k mark in that weight class.

I think retail price is a little high for the stone you posted.....

Consider the world of si-2's also. Location, size and how these inclusions play on the stones overall appearance will affect value.

A good vendor can cherry pick you a nice si-2 with faint white inclusions spread out over the stone vs. dark carbon inclusions.

It might take a while but some si-2's are definitely better than others.......

Again do a quick search and I think you will find an si-1 clarity stone which is around 5k...

Hope this helps...

I totally agree with you when it comes to the location of inclusions. I have seen some awful black carbon spots in many stones which are SI1. Like you said it's all about where the inclusions are located. If they are not in the centre of the diamond, and are not visible without a 10x loupe, then I am happy.
That is the problem with buying from the net, I cannot get a close look at the stones. I am located in Australia, and everything located in the stores is marked up to ridiculous prices. The only place I can find a good price is the internet. I have been waiting for a reply from the seller explaining where the inclusions are located on the stone. If the inclusions are small and spread out, then I think I will buy the stone. I can always use the 30 day money back guarantee if the seller has been untruthful in the description.

After looking at many diamonds and seeing the difference between a well cut diamond/H&A compared to a very good cut diamond. There is no choice. I want the best cut diamond in F colour, without spending more than $5,000 USD

Hello Jason,

It looks expensive to me...
Check out this one, for comparison: 1.06 F/SI 2 H&A ... It looks pretty for its grade! Also, as you can see, with $5K you can buy a stone above the 1 ct mark in the SI 2 range if you want an F color or an SI 1 in the G-H range... If I were in your shoes, I'd go with a G-H SI 1 so that you'll be safer. The difference between F & G is really slight and should not be noticeable with your naked eye. Once set, they will look absolutely the same.

Hi Jason

I think there was a small wobbly in your conversion from Australian dollars to US$. The diamond price is $4387 USD thanks to a strong Aussie dollar.
I do agree with the other comments on SI2’s You have to be careful that the inclusions are scattered and preferably colorless. Why not arrange with the sales consultant to have the stone louped and give you a full report.

Wayne, the diamond I had in mind was from your store. It seems as though somebody already purchased it.

My conversion had the 10% GST added to it. I was told by Monica from diamondexchange that we must add 10%GST to diamonds, is that correct?
