I really just cant get enough of this site!!! I visit every day. I would love to see your VS, VVS or IF diamonds, there is something so pure and beautiful about the natural perfection of a stone. I am a bit different than most here, I am not concerned with cut grade as much.
my diamond was cut in the 50's and may be considered a poor cut(after all, it was my great, great Grandmothers stone).. its the natural quality that I look for, never the less an ideal cut sparkles like no other, but I"m proud to have such a piece Long story short... I had Leo's and I was less than happy. Now I have a beautiful E ring, The diamond belonged to my great great grandmother. Those who are waiting to see my eternity band... its done and will be here next week. For now here is what I gave up, and now what I have, I will post pictures when my Eternity band is here... which will be a 1.50 G VS2 with good polish, symmetry etc... You can picture what it will look like with my Tiffany style knife edge(for now)

Ps: My jeweler told me my Leo's were a better cut then my GG Grandmothers stone but I picture her being proud that her rings stayed in the family so long. She would love what I have done with her beauty. My jewler also says, it has quite a bang for sparkyness (for its era)

The first picture is my old Leo Diamond from Kays total CTW 1.48 I S11(2)

My new ring is a f/G VS1(2)

Sandra,

I just love your Great Grandmother's diamond.  I think it is just beautiful, and like you said there is so much history, how couldn't you be proud?  She certainly would be.

Question for you, what did you end up doing with your Leo e-ring?  I was just curious because I remember your story.

I can't wait to see your new eternity band with your new diamond.  I can imagine they will look superb together!

What a beautiful ring! I am so glad that you are happy with your great grandmother's stone. It's lovely, and it's nice that your stone has it's own story!

Leos ended up being a trade in for my eternity band. I was going to make a pendant but, I decided not to. I am a gal who only likes diamonds on my fingers (and toes) ha ha + trading them in helped a lot with the price on my E Band. i know they are worth more than my trade in but not an extreme amount more. I looked at prices on white flash. For the same CW,color, and clarity as my leo e ring its 2,499 and we paid 4,200. My Leo enhancer is probably only worth 1,000 or a little less and we paid 2,000 so with that said we could have gotten the same quality or better with WF for half the price. If the Leos are actually worth 3,400 market and trade in is always a lot less I think we did alright. trade in was 1,300... even if not. I really am glad to be happy, not many can say they have what I do including the best man in the world who brings so much joy to my life. an I'm not one to regret anything. I heard this before and I think its true "regrets are mistakes you didn't learn from"

here is a picture of me and my sweetie pie. Married for 15 months

first one is at the pier when his submarine pulled in after 4 months out to sea.

I agree with gecko, your pics were a lot of fun to see, and you're adorable!  I like your new ring and I love the idea of using your great-great-Grandma's stone.  Post pics of your new eternity band as soon as it arrives.  We're collectively terrible at waiting  :-).
LOL!
