Ok guys, who has the best Cartier 1895 solitaire reproduction without the pave stones on the side. My GF just decided on the Cartier setting over the Tiffany. Now my dilema starts. I was going to use ExcelDiamond for the Tiff setting, but not I need to find some else to do the 1895. Any suggestions? What is the turnaround time for this? Can I get a setting or do I need to send the diamond @ the same time? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanx in advance.

Leon Mege makes a similar basket setting to the Cartier. There are several posted on this forum. And here is his site: http://www.artofplatinum.com/4images/categories.php?cat_id=6&page=2 There isn't a good side view of the solitaire, but there should be some if you do a search on this forum.

Are you looking for a replica (i.e., you want people to think it's from Cartier) or just something with a similar feel?

I am looking for a replica, trying to get as close to original as possible. Must be a platinum setting. I am willing to pay to get is made, but I want it close. I can't even find any 1895 rings USED online. I was @ Cartier last night, and they wanted $20400 for a 1.07ct F vs1 stone in it. To me, thats rediculous. They told me they can place any diamond in their setting, as long as I buy it from them. I dont want to spend over 10K, it seems impossible there.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for you. The place that often has them used is Signed Pieces...so keep an eye on their website if you aren't in a hurry.

Does she specifically want a Cartier or will she be happy with a replica?

I'd agree with nf in that I'd contact signedpieces and get them to keep an eye out for you. If she's ok with something similar to the cartier setting but not that exact one, then I'd go that route.
