I've been asked by some folks to add new forums. Eventually, I set them up.

Who’s Who in diamonds and this forum and
Everything but Diamonds category.

Your help, guys, is greatly appreciated. If anyone wants to add anything or have any other suggestions, please speak up

Please also consider it as a personal opportunity to develop your own space, which can have business potential.

Leonid, if we are still expanding how about something dedicated to sharing mommy/parenting stories? Like "Just for Moms" or something like that. Of course, anyone could enter and post, not just limited to mothers per se, but if they saw the title and weren't intested they could easily avoid it too. I'd also love to have one dedicated just to antique or "specialty" jewelry. That seems to have enough of an audience all its own.

I actually vote for more on the jewelry/diamonds subject and less on the 'extracurricular' activities..does anyone really post in some of the other forums that were created? I would nix the ones that don't get a decent amount of posts per day and maybe create one lump one for lifestyle type stuff.

There is a 'Jewelry Pieces' forum which is where you could add the Antique discussion KM....seems more than appropriate and wouldn't need a new forum.

Isn't there already a baby forum or something?

I personally think we have too many forums already. To go back to my original mantra...Pscope is about diamonds. Then again Leo already knows how I feel!

I also have to say that I know the other forums hardly get any visits..so I just post my stuff in DiamondHangout most of the time if its about diamonds or not. Why bother to put together a huge post that gets 5 views for the 'Home' category when I could post in DH on the 'new house' and know that everyone will see it.

My $.02 is to add a forum like "anything but round", where people can discuss shaped stones, or colored stones.

We already have a colored stone forum.

As for round vs fancy...RockyTalky is for ALL Shapes and Sizes of diamonds, not just round. It's just that 99% of the Q's tend to be around rounds....

I agree that there are already too many forums. I don't go to most of them. The site gets a little "diluted" when you add too many choices. I prefer fewer choices, even if the posts end up a little "off-topic."

Isn't there already a baby forum or something----------------

Maybe change the baby forum from baby talk to moms' talk and/or general parenting. This way more parents can interact and the topic isn't so limited to drooling little monsters

There's lots of nice moms here and I'd love to be able to chit chat with them all!

Excellent idea Michelle....more like a 'Parents and Kids' forum or something.

Also, possible re-naming of the Bride WorldWide forum to a more generic Wedding/Event Planning forum or something would allow for more broad posts...and for MEN to come in and not feel odd...hee hee.

I really like the healthy exchange of ideas here. I believe Leonid would appreciate it too. Yes I agree too much is not a good thing; maybe purging out some of those that were not too popular is possible. Mara I know you are anti-forum in general, you've made that known well. Less clutter huh? But you gotta admit some of the topics are enjoyed by others since we are a diverse group, yeah?

Michelle you had a great idea to modify the baby forum to parents/kids, or whatever. I like that.

Yeeeeup! Every mommy story is unique. Even if you are a mom of only a pet, you *are* a mommy too.

I agree that the area about babies could just be changed to being about children. Ultimately people will make a place into what they want if no one is telling them they cannot.

I like having an area where women can discuss weddings since many first time diamond buyers are buying because they are getting married. I think that since having babies [at least in the Bay Area ;-) ] often follows marriage there should be a place for alums to come and brag about their progeny.

I have no problem with that being the place for discussion of children, but it could also go under "Society" or the area for the home (whatever that is called). As long as we all know that that's where we are to congregate for that.

And, yes, Mara, some of us *do* use the other fora! I got a great recipe for coconut egg nog (coquito) in the Priceless Recipes forum right before Christmas and now my family wants it every year!!!

The other forums that are used often are not really what I am talking about..its the other randoms that have 1 or 2 posts in them and 5 visits a month. Also, sometimes newbies get lost and post in random forums then their Q's don't get answered. This isn't an 'About.com' where you have information about everything....I think it should be specific about diamonds/gems and resulting forums (e.g. jewelry pieces, brides, etc..children/family & home could fit other topics into there). Recipes? The GardenWeb family has a great community where lots of people exchange exactly that kind of information about home, family, food, etc.

Ultimately, our fearless leader makes the decision, we just talk about it.

Yes, we are a diverse group, but more isn't always better.

And no, I guess I wouldn't agree with the above statement carte blanche.  Some of the forums clearly aren't being enjoyed by anyone....because they haven't been posted to since the beginning of December!

I interpret that to mean those particular topics don't resonate with enough folks to maintain a separate forum.

Al, while more is not necessarily better for some, I think growth for the PS community in general is a good thing as long as it stays positive? Occasionally there will be bumps to overcome, but that's true about a lot in life. I agree the forums that have proven not to get any or very limited attention could be purged out if that is what Leonid decides to do, but otherwise I feel it's not hurting anyone by its mere existence. Personally it doesn't bother me. And you never know when someone interested in science or sports or any of the quiet forums will come along. Sports? Hey, it's superbowl weekend!

As a new user, it would really be nice if there was a place we could go to get info on how to use the forum.

I'd like to know how all of you pull quotes out of each others posts and insert them in your own to clarify your points. That sort of thing.

Maybe I'm a dummy when it comes to computers, but I'm not sure I've located everything that's here, and this place is great. I don't want to miss any of it.

But if you try,
Sometimes,
You'll find, you get what you need.

Harleywoman you are cool! I know what you mean, I was just as confused as you are, but eventually, many times after trial and error, I figured things out. Heck I'm still figuring things out, lol. Leonid is happy to answer any questions as well. He is a real gentleman.
