I am planning an upcoming engagement and I'm looking for some help finding a particular setting for an Asscher diamond.  I am looking for something that replicates or is similar to the 1922 Cartier ring.  A solitare settting with a narrow band inset with diamonds.

She doesn't really like the antique/pave look.  But loves the elegant, simple, thin look with diamonds inset in the band like the 1922 Cartier.  Either Asschers or princess cut (or perhaps rounds if necessary) for the inset diamonds in the band.

Ideas where I can find some options like this.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Please!!!  She's an amazing girl and I want to give her something she'll love!

Nice Ice lists a setting like that (on this page), very similar to the "Daniel K" line (if not the same thing).

I can't understand why such a wonderful ring comes presented in such weird pictures !

Asscher cut, good choice very nice stone in my opinion, I dont know what you mean as far as the 1922 Cartier ring (have a picture?)

A humble advice I can give you, Go for step cut diamonds for the band. (maybe caree, (square cut in small sizes)) Or Baguettes...

I wouldnt advice any brilliant stones with a step cut Asscher cut center diamond, unless you can get your hands on antique cushion melee (small sizes for the shank), but she is not mad about the antique look.

Good luck, and show us some pics. when it ready...

OOOooo, I know. Daniel K would be perfect, modern but has that Cartier feeling.

Daniel K
Nice Ice has some pictures of his settings. Make sure you scroll down the page.

Nice Ice is responsible for the Photographs, I hope that they do not mind that I posted their wonderful pictures.

Here's a Pscoper who had an asscher eternity set made. (With round pave.)
Beansy's Set
Clearly, not for everyone, but pretty and modern.

Unlike DiaGem, I don't think you have to put a step cut stone with other step cuts.
It would be a cleaner look with step cuts, or baguettes, but I think small round pave with asschers have nice Ooomph! Particularly in a ring like
Lovey's.

Ana, you beat me to the nice ice pic. You are just too fast!!!

This being Pricescope, I suspect the vintage Cartier inquestion is THIS.  The accent stone are tiny...

but single cut ones do sound better to me as well.  French, caree or anything step cut set into a wider shank would be very elegant of course.

I thought French cut diamonds were extict until this shop came up. Singlestone makes several versions of this:

... and to return to the original idea of this thread

Hope some of this helps.

Ana,

You are right, french cuts would compliment the Asscher cut tremendously.

Ana - Do you have any more examples of french cut diamonds?
What's caree, I don't think I've heard this term.
thanks.

my 2 cents...

i was also looking for a 1922 cartier replica...and ended up with round briliiants in my pave setting.  i LOVE the rounds in the band b/c they sparkle like crazy!!!  keep in mind that with an asscher you won't have the same fire/scintillation patterns as with a round center.  so i like that the rounds in the band add to the sparkle factor but i still get to have an asscher that i really wanted...

Examples of French cut... no, not really.  They appear as accent stones in Art Deco style jewelry. There are more in rings at Singlestone.  Being small, it is hard to show the facet pattern of that cut in flesh:

  (see source at Ekati Jewelry)

"Caree" might not be a very popular commercial name - I just do not know how else to call a small, polished octahedron with one of the tips cut off. The Context cut (brand name) sort of looks like that only if it had a table polished on top. So it is either the oldest or the trendiest cut

the Context                                    and a caree cut

Are these cool diamonds or what !

I am such a fan of that stone and that setting! I wish I could tell you exactly where to find it.  I agree that the closest would be either Niceice or DanielK.  I am not sure of your price range but I know Daniel K can be up there.  Have you tried custom?  I have not dealt with whiteflash but possibly they could do something similar.  Good luck on your search.  I am sure she will love whatever you decide.

You might want to check on Diamondtalk.com.  I think Juan from Van-Graff did a cartier repro for someone.  He made my custom design ring for my asscher it was amazing, everyone adores it.  He is a master.  Here is his name and website

I love that style of ring for an asscher :}
Actualy for any shape diamond.
There is just something about a thin band with a little added bling that showcases the center stone.
Yummy.

What about this setting from antiqueengagementrings.com ?  It looks like a replica of the Cartier setting to me...
