I bought two large uncut Rubies (dark pink in color) a few years ago and want to understand the basis for valuing these.

Thanks,

Gosh there is a lot that goes into how rough is valued.
Colour, treatment, clarity, shape off the top of my head. There is no way to know from just what you've told us.

It will depend on the 4 Cs:
Colour
Carat weight
Clarity and transparency
Treatment (I presume none)

Carat weight needs to be pondered by shape, though. A well shaped rough will have much higher retention than an odd, pancake one.

And perhaps we should mention there haven't been any known occurrences of Ruby in Namibia. I worked there in 1999 to early 2001 and we saw many mineral types, but Ruby was not one of them.
