Just wanted to share the results of a project. I had an old diamond bracelet and pair of studs that I had received as gifts but never wore due to metal sensitivity. They'd been languishing in a drawer for years until I finally got around to resetting them. I'm getting married in March, so I decided to have them reset into several new pieces that I could give to my mother, future sister-in-law and mother-in-law. 
Here are the two old pieces:
(White gold bracelet with 17 small round diamonds, approx 2.5 mm each & white gold round diamond studs, approx 5mm each -- no idea about the ctw since they were a gift)
The diamonds were split up and made into 5 new pieces:
1. a daisy diamond ring with one 5mm diamond and eight 2.5 mm diamonds. 18k yellow gold.
2. a pillbox ring with one 5mm diamond. 14k rose gold.
3. an orchid pendant with a 5mm Brazilian amethyst and one 2.5 mm diamond. 14k rose gold.
4. a Burmese lavender jade pendant 9 carats (jade cab is 13.2mm x 11.8mm) with four 2.5mm diamonds. 14k yellow gold.
5. a cultured pearl and diamond pendant. The pearl is 9x10mm, with four 2.5mm diamonds. 18k yellow gold.
#1 is for me
, while #2 & #3 are going to my future sister-in-law, #4 is for my future MIL, and #5 is for my mother. I really liked the idea of sharing the diamonds between the women in my two families!
