Hi everyone!
I finally have some time to sit down and make this post. I am so excited to share my new ring in the making. The finished ring pictures are not yet in so there are no pictures to scroll down to (yet, but it's coming). I have been wanting a halo possibly for my AVR and have been dying to have a piece made by the talented Victor Canera. Unfortunately, he does not work with AVRs and fortunately for me, I am happy with my AVR as a solitaire (for now). One less project in queue.
My original e-ring was a 1.2ct round brilliant diamond solitaire set in platinum with three sided pavé, cathedral shank. Hubby and MIL purchased this ring from a friend's jeweler in Bethesda, called Boone and Sons. They gave us a fantastic deal because we were friends of family. The certificates are however tucked away in a box in storage, but we plan to have the new ring appraised once complete, so I could provide some deets for those who are curious.
Not in my wildest dreams did I think I would be designing my own ring two years ago and beyond. Hubby and I didn't know anything about diamonds when we got engaged, we walked into Boone and Sons and basically just trusted our jeweler friend. Well, the diamond is pretty but the setting was so high that after two prong/height adjustments it was still too high and catching on everything! I had the ring resized a couple of times too, and some pavé fell out, and every time the ring came back a little less perfect, and I had less of the desire to make it right for me. Subsequently, a few years of abroad travels, moves, and a baby, I had kept the ring tucked away in a safe place, not having worn it for several years. Something about it always bothered me...
My time obsessing about rings on the internet has paid off because I really love the design I came up with.
*A bezel center with milgrain or inner halo
*outer bezeled halo of differing shapes,
*outer bezeled rounds graduating in size with largest near the pears and tapering towards French Cuts at 9 and 3 o clock.
*I wanted to achieve a sort of marquise shape overall on the finger from topview.
*And the other views and shank I wanted a non-cathedral Emilya-esque feel.
Here is my terrible drawing obviously not to scale (b/c I was high on caffeine and my 3.21ct AVR was in consideration for this design): This is the drawing/pic I sent to VC.
VC suggested the following:
*bright cut pavé for inner halo
*consistent sized (vs tapered/graduating) bezel rounds in outer halo - these will be single cuts
He has done a good portion of the metal work at this point. And me, I am peeing in my pants looking forward to seeing this beauty!!!

Victor will do a fabulous job, I'm sure! So how long will it take to make?
