Sna77: The ring and setting you chose is gorgeous. It is always sweet for the guy to do all the research and obsess over all the little details and pick out the perfect set for the gal. You are so sweet to be so thoughtful and generous-- your girl is truly lucky. I wish my guy would learn something from you. I also have the 6-prong solitaire and love it!! I have asked numerous times for him to get me the eternity band for my wedding band and the answer is always a no!! ImageImage The Tiffany 6-prong solitaire is such a timeless, classic piece of jewelry. Anyway, you did a fabulous job on the stone/setting research and the result is certainly impressive. I would think anywhere between a 2 and a 2.5 carat total weight eternity band would compliment your 2.37 solitaire perfectly. If you do anything bigger (in the 3 carat range), the band may look a bit overpowering for the center stone. You could always use it for a right-hand ring. Image

Thanks Pearberry!  As my fiancé can attest, I obsess over just about everything.  Haha...  I think you might be right with the 2.5ish eternity band.. we went to a local jeweler that stocked the Mémoiré eternity bands yesterday AM... The 4 & 5 tcw versions looked OK, but its really hard to tell when trying on a size 6 onto a 3.5 finger... it never looks just right... Anyhow, I didn''t end up making the trip to NYC with her this weekend, so I won''t be able to guage her family''s reaction, so more pics, and a better update will have to wait until she returns!  Image

What an amazing ring!!!  Love the new setting.  Your fiance has such lovely delicate hands and the big rock looks amazing on it!  I think the 2.5 tcw eternity band would be a perfect match.  I have a 4.5 sized hand and I know what you mean that''s hard to tell how everything looks.  However, I find that if I try it on my middle finger I can get a better idea.

Wow! Just gorgeous! Still one of my favorites! Any chance you have pictures of it in the other setting? It would be interesting to compare them.
I kinda like the WF one better but the sc is more authentic looking.... well... the swoops are more on the SC and I thinkt he prongs are more on the WF.  I dunno - its so negligible to me I can' hardly tell - I wonder how much you can tell without magnification.... only important thing here is customer satisfaction so congrats!!!

Yep, thats pretty much it... the bands were about the same--the WF one was just a tad thicker, and that didn''t bother us... The SC one definitely swoops more--I actually like how the WF one swoops a little less... I do, however, like the side view of the SC one better than the WF one.   From the top, they look almost identical...  From the side is where I see the difference... With the Wf one, I see more metal from the side... The SC one I see more diamond....  The WF one is also set just a tad higher than the SC one.  I''m sure that 99% of the people who ever see the rign would never notice it... I''m that 1% who is incredibly anal though and looks at it every day.  Image

Fab stone - Fab setting!!!  I love it!!!  I like the SC setting a bit better, too.  I''m glad you did what made you happy.

I keep coming back to look at this ring.  It''s stunning.  I think you made the right decision to change the setting because the proportions on this one are so graceful.  Really, it couldn''t look better on her hand.

Wow! Fantastic looking ... above 2Ct's and a gorgeous cut in a superb setting. Gorgeous ... one of the nicest e-rings I've seen on the forums :)

Congratulations.

What lighting did you shoot the last two photos with? I'm loving the icy blueish tinge on your diamond.

Thank you very much!  The first photo of the old setting was done in my fiancés basement under a halogen desk lamp.  I took that one... The new setting picture came from my appraiser, Jeff Averbook''s office in Medford, MA.  he had some setup with a white background that he uses to take pics...  Not sure of what lighting he used...

Wow sna77, glad SC pulled through for you in time for the shower! I''m sure your fiancee''s friends gushed over the ring. It''s so stunning!

I can totally understand how you feel about the details of the setting. Glad you got the one you wanted, hassle-free.

The wedding band looks nice with the ring. Would you consider a pave knife edge to match the e-ring band?

What do you have in mind for the pave eternity band?  Send some links please.  I know Lin had always wanted the shared prong setting, but it can''t hurt to look at other things... she might like it better Image

Hi sna77. It looks like the band on the e-ring is a knife edge. Attached is a picture from SC of a Vatche knife edge pave wedding band. This would mimmick the shape of the e-ring. However, the shared prong is really nice - you can''t go wrong.

I have to say that if you are going with the Tiffany e-ring, then I''d want the Tiffany look shared prong band to go with it. The actual Tiffany is my favorite, but I did get a Memoire because they are not marked up quite as high.  You do have to have a low set one to go with that ring, though. A girl on here awhile back I think may have had problems with a band set too high scratching the e-ring prongs.

I agree that the shared prong setting looks better than the pave one with her ering... The SC one is cheaper than the Memoiré one I believe--although I''m not sure how to judge since the diamonds are all uncerted on all the eterntity bands.... I''m going to go and see the SC one in person... I''m hoping that since they make both, they make it sit really low...

Diamondseeker:  what ering do you have matched up with the Memoire eternity ring?

Post by katebar » February 12th, 2007, 6:14 pm
Love the setting and love the look on you DF finger. I have a 4.5 size finger and a similar style ring albeit a litttle smaller 1.3.
Anyway my wedding band has .5 pointers with a tcw of 1.2. It certainly blingy enough for meImage

It is a 6 prong setting, but not the Superb Cert one. I did call Barry and strongly considered it, but I was so undecided that I just chose one in 18k wg to wear until I decide on a platinum one. I''ll try to post a picture. (stones in band are 10-11 points each)
