I was given 24k yellow gold jewelry pieces as well as a few diamond and jade pieces on my wedding day. It's almost impossible to wear the 24k pieces on the daily basis but I do play with them when I'm bored at home. =) I hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I do.

These are all such beautiful pieces. I just love your bracelets. Can we please see some photos of the gold bangles on your wrists? :cheeky:

Lucky you, especially the diamond earrings!

I do not wear yellow gold, and would be inclined to get rid of any yellow gold jewellery given to me (my mum was given a few items when she got married and gave them to me), except for a couple of small pieces for keep sake.

Enjoy.

DK :))

What an amazing collection! I'd want to wear them as much as possible and could see myself in my bathrobe at home, bedecked in all of those gorgeous pieces!

Just beautiful! The jade is lovely, and I adore that rich, warm gold. The diamonds, of course, are fabulous!

Enjoy your gorgeous pieces in health and happiness!

Yes, I'll post some hand shots later. I usually try not to wear them because they bend do easily.

And thank you everyone for the wonderful comments.

I don't wear yellow gold either, but it's meant to be symbolic. I'm thinking of giving it to my future kids on their wedding day. By then gold prices will be even higher.

My collection is average compared to this Chinese bride. As reported by the newspaper, she received 70 gold bangles and numerous other gold pieces. Maybe she's on pricescope and can post her massive collection. Wow that must be heavy, but very impressive!

I did not receive any when I got married, but then my family were not invited for various reasons. :naughty:

If I had a choice I wouldn't invite relatives either. They tend to be so gossipy :naughty:

WOW! Nice way to start a jewelry collection!

My favorite is the flower diamond bracelet - sparkles aplenty!

ETA - is the tradition that you're supposed to keep and wear the jewelry, or is the jewelry (especially the gold jewelry) a stand-in for giving you money and insurance against tough times? In other words, if you and your hubby ran into tough times, would the givers expect you to still be wearing your gold jewelry, or would you have their implicit blessing to sell it to help see you through those tough times?

I think that was the case long time ago because gold doesn't depreciate in value. So it's meant to be an insurance and can be pawned quickly for money during chaos.
I got both gold and money, not just the gold. The gold jewelry is not meant to be worn normally since it's so fragile being 24k gold. I would say most likely the gifters will not see it again. Therefore, it's up to me what happens to the gold.
I have friends that sold theirs and some friends that are saving it for their children. Some family members asked whether I wanted gold or something else and I said I preferred diamonds or white gold so I can wear it occasionally.

I love the flower bangle. I wear it often =) Thank you

Oh my goodness I absolutely LOVE the dragon and phoenix bangles!!! And two different styles of the pair! You wouldn't happen to know where your family member got them would you?

Yes, there are 3 places:
Canal Diamond Gold & Jewelry
Luk Fook Jewelry
Diamond Queen.

I hope this helps. I'm glad you like the bangles. It's really a work of art with tons of history behind it. :twirl:

That's about the only day you can wear these Phoenix & Dragon bracelets w/o looking weird .. :wink2: then back to the safety deposit box until you hand them down to your daughter(s) or DIL on the day of their wedding.

p.s..I'd prefer diamond jewelry instead... ;))

I love it all but will always hold a special place for the diamonds!

We have a similar tradition, I too received jewellery as wedding gifts. There's a thread on them somewhere.

Many congrats! :appl:

Charmy, are you Chinese or does your culture have something similar? If not it doesn't matter. Maybe a tradition can be started. I bet your husband makes up for it. I've seen your posts!
