Oh and my finger size is 4.75, but the ring was made in a 5...I'm sending back for re-sizing/re-making next week.

Thanks, me too! I am not a solitaire kind of girl, but there is just that extra oomph in this setting that just makes me swoon! He did so well!

That is beautiful Stacy! I would consider leaving the 1/4 size in the ring. It would give you a little extra room in the future if you should have children and have finger swelling. 1/4 size is a small amount you might be grateful for later. But whatever you chose, it is gorgeous!

BTW, I agree with luv2sparkle, 1/4 will be good when you wear a wedding band with it. Maybe add sizing balls/beads?

I must say, I'm with luv2sparkle and ocmom. I also just got engaged, and we chose a non-sizeable eternity style shank. I sent them a ring that fit me perfectly over the summer, and they made it based on that. My bf didn't propose till recently, and the ring is def a little big. It spins a bit and is probably also 1/4 size too big. I'm considering sizing beads, but I'm going to at least wait till the summer (or a tropical vacation) to see what happens to my finger and the ring when it is warm out. This is my first winter actually knowing my ring size - I can tell my fingers are smaller than they were over the summer when I first started paying attention to their size.

Also, the keeping it bigger so it fits with a wedding ring is smart to - have you tried it on with another band to see how it fits then?

Thank you everyone! I am really happy with the setting and diamond! I cannot stop staring at it!

As far as sizing goes, it turns out the ring is a large 4.75 and being so thin, my ring size on this band will be closer to a 4.5. I'm going to request the size it to a large 4.5, so I have a bit of wiggle room in the summer. My ring size is the same as my mother and grandmother's, so I dont feel like my size will change much (we are all different weights and our ring sizes have not changed with age or weight lose/gain). I plan to wear two wedding bands with this, but in talking with JamesAllen.com, I for sure need to have the ring sized smaller so I do not risk losing the ring. (It is WAY too big!)

I have always wanted a rope solitaire along those lines. Post more photos! Did your fiance share any more details about the design and ringmaking process?

I will definitely try to take some good pictures and post some new ones. I REALLY love the ring...ahhhh! I cannot stop saying that lol. My fiance (eee!!) worked with a dear friend of mine at JamesAllen.com to create this lovely ring. He knew that he wanted an asscher shape for me and when he couldn't find a setting that he totally loved on the web site, he worked with JA to create the ring he invisioned in his head. He sent in images of his twist design idea and was able to get a custom quote from JA. The ring took roughly 9-10 business days to make and actually shipped a day early, which is why I was proposed to last weekend, as oposed to this upcoming weekend. He said that everything went rather smoothly and the whole process was 'way easier' than he expected.

Me too! This is the setting I picked! I thought no one on PS would have one since years ago, & I was surprised to see this thread since I had to search ooold threads to find examples of the ones before.
