My collection of step cuts, from left to right:
0.48ct EC G/H eye clean in 5mm platinum band
My pride and joy, the 1.19ct E VS1 that was my 40th birthday present to myself, set in platinum
My mum's 6-stone square step cut band, 14K WG, can't remember the spec as it was purchased over 30 years ago

Thank you, krisvrn! I am not sure how my husband pulled this off, but he had it custom made. There is one engagement ring and two wedding bands; the wedding bands were just "bent" to fit to the engagement ring (similar to some others that are being made that way on a more mainstream level now-a-days). It was as if someone had a regular flat round band, laid it down on a press, and punched a square shape into it so that there was a step in the middle. I am just trying so hard to explain, but may not be making much sense. They both look the same; you just turn one upside down so it can be the bottom. I may have to just ask my husband who did it (if he'll let the cat outta the bag).
