Do you like this combination?

Love the wedding band but I'm thinking a four prong head with a slightly thinner shank? It's not always about making the ering so different as it is finding a great setting to pair up with that band!

This is what I have now. Should I even bother changing my ering setting? As I mentioned, I do prefer it to be a big wider and I also don't like that it sticks up so much. I would rather it sat more flush in the setting. BUT, it might be silly to have it reset for such a "minor" thing.

Personally, I LOVE your current e-ring setting...6 prongs and all! I have had both 4 prongs and 6 prong heads, and I prefered the 6 prongs because it made my stone look larger! It also protects your stone better and makes it look truly round...whereas a 4-prong head will give it a squared-off look. I also prefer thinner settings for solitaires (like yours). I wouldn't change a thing! And not to be rude by any means, but I really don't like the other setting (shown in your first picture). It is too wide, in my opinion, and looks somewhat outdated to me for some reason.

Now, about the wedding band...I really love your current simple band, but the diamond band would look great too. The only thing you might what to think about is how a 3-carat band might take some focus off your main diamond. That's a whole lotta bling! Maybe a 2-carat eternity band would be better? Just my opinion. And if you don't mind a gap (which I don't at all) I think any eternity band would look great with your current setting. I have a halo setting and wear a straight wedding band with it, and I think it looks great! Some people get a thin spacer band, but I'm not a big fan of those.

Your ering setting is beautiful and classic - I really like it.

Did you take any pictures of it with the eternity band?

The edges of the stones in a band that is prong set rather than say a channel set band can eat away at the prongs of the ering.

You said you would like to have a setting that has the diamond sitting lower but that would be a consideration. A spacer band or a thin band between the ering and band would solve that problem.

There are lots of four prong settings to choose from though. Look at the websites of some of the vendors here to see if you see anything you think you might like. They also make eternity bands and their prices can be lower or at the very least quite competitive with B&M jewerly stores.

If you like and can live with your current setting, then adding an eternity band might do the trick in giving you a new look. If you really want a four prong setting, then new it will have to be!

Singer - It isn't rude at all...I want your honest opinion. I feel that my current setting is old and outdated...but maybe that is because the other one would be new and fresh looking to me . Can you post a pic of a spacer band? Never heard of that.

I have thought that maybe a 3 ct would be too large for my diamond but I really want to bling it up! Maybe then, I would make two 1.5 ct bands and put the solitaire in one of them. I don't know. I'm still so confused. I just want to get it right so I will love it for years and years...until I want to upgrade it again....LOL!

I don't know why I didn't think of this before...if you really want a 4-prong setting why don't you just have the head replaced? You could replace your current 6-prong head with a 4-prong head that is also lower (since you said you don't like it being so high up). That would be a LOT cheaper than getting a whole new setting!

I think your current rings will look like new if you have them polished. I think a 3 ct. eternity is a little large for a 1.3 ct stone because I tried one that size with my 1.6 and felt it was too large. The height of the stones will make the band stick out much farther from the surface of your finger than an e-ring and I think that looks funny personally. I'd honestly look for a 2 to 2.25 ct. band. Because eternity ring diamonds have a habit of scratching e-ring prongs, many people wear a plain band (usually thin) between the e-ring and eternity ring. But you could try it with your current wedding band.

Common consensus around here is that a thin e-ring shank makes the diamond look larger, so you won't find many with wider e-rings around here. There are some beautiful Tiffany replica solitaires such as this if you do want a change:

I like your current setting, I like erings and wbands to have about the same height. Perhaps a smaller diamond band to stack with your current set.

I would get an eternity to wear with your current set. It would be beautiful. I would also have your ring polished, then they will both
look new.

I like a wider band on a ering with an eternity. I went with a thinner band, not sure if I would like it, and fell in love with the
delicateness of it. I do love a wide band, with an eternity if it feels comfortable. I think it is just that the one that you tried
with the eternity is not great with it.

Agreed! And if you really like the look of the four-prong better, just get the head replaced. It's much cheaper! I did that for my mom's ring recently and it was a very easy and affordable process.

I love your ering. My opinion is just to go with the eternity band if you want more bling, but keep your e ring setting.

That is what bothers me about this - nothing else (and putting it on a smaller band won't help the comparison of stones). I would make the stones in the e-band smaller regardless of whether you want a thicker or thinner e-ring.

I agree! The wedding band is too big for the ering. It's a problem we see often on PS. The size of the both ring are not correct IMO. I prefer when the size are delicate and harmonized.

my original ering setting was very delicate, and i felt that it almost got lost next to my eternity.

Wow! I love that! Does you solitaire fall to the side? Mine always does in my current setting. How do you make that not happen?

thank you, my solitaire does move from side to side a bit, but it doesn't bother me too much.

I too think an eternity band with much smaller diamonds would look great with your beautiful ering.
