Arjunajane, I thought the same thing, I was relieved it wasn''t pink diamonds too! I try not to be judgmental, I really do. Obviously, people can spend their money on whatever they want...but this just seems really decadent and frivolous to me. |

Maybe they had some sort of running joke....I can see it in that case (i.e. next time I am getting you a Ring Pop!). In that sort of situation, I can see how it might be suitable as a memento of the occasion if that is how they chose to commemorate it.
Still, definitely not to my taste and not something I would actually wear! |

this is kind of what I was thinking.. but definitely a bit bizarre :) |

"When I first proposed to my wife, I did it with real ring pops," he explained. "I had a ring pop wrapper and opened it and was like, ''Look, baby, our favorite candy!'' She had hers and she was like, ''Mine is broken.'' She opened it up and it was her real engagement ring. So I''m a romantic guy!"

Haha.. I really like that. I would want one, as a novelty though. I wouldn''t really wear it in public, but it''s cute that when they got married (... again...) that he gave her another ring. I think I''m alone here though ![]() ![]()

![]() I like it too and I like Mariah. I think it''s a sweet gesture. Considering her engagement ring, I doubt this was made to be worn, but obviously a personal thing. Some people wear gems in their teeth, others have obnoxious chains and some guys wear obnoxious studs. This ring is just a personal sweet sentiment, not GROSS!

Haha! I"m with the pro camp. She does have it all, you know. I can even imagine her wearing it around, it''s so her. He obviously can''t outdo other folks with the size, which can only get so big anyways. So he goes the sentimental route. What''s wrong with that when they can afford it? I''m just surprised the center doesn''t spin (with batteries). Like, I was kinda expecting it to, until I reread the last bit and realized with disappointment that it would be the whole thing spinning in a case. Oh well. It will look so at home in her dressing rooms. Whatever it takes, I just hope it will work out for them. |

As said earlier, I think it is great as a memento for the ceremony. I would not wear it myself and would keep it in the display...but it certainly would be a cool memento of the day - I like that kind of sentimentality and to remember an important event with a memento! Heck, DH and I use the small rug we got married upon as our "headboard". This ring pop not only remembers the first proposal, but the renewing of their vows, and ties them together. I like that!

Ok, it''s rather gaudy. But, the story is sweet. My DH joked around that he was going to get me a LED light ring as an engagement ring. He joked that I could light it off at depositions and distract the witness, lol. Well, when he proposed at dinner, the first box I opened was a LED ring. So, I get Nick''s story.
However, I don''t think I''d expect DH to give me a LED sapphire and diamond encrusted ring on our anniversary. But hey, Nick has the money, and I''m sure the jeweler appreciated the business given the current state of the economy. |
