chip in diamond

Does a chip in a diamond effect the diamond in any way (value, stability, breakage, etc.). The chip is right under a platinum prong. By the way this is an estate piece so there is at least cause for some wear/a chip.

You really need to get an independant appraiser to look at the diamond for you in order to answer your questions, here is a tool you can use to find an appraiser in your area.
