Amber necklace for teething

I have friends and acquaintances that swear by them. I don't use gems or crystals for healing purposes, but I have a friend who is into healing with crystals, and she had me hold some crystals to demonstrate and they actually tingled in my hands--like really tingled like the pins and needles feeling...

Re: Oberlin College Students: Cafeteria Food Is Racist

I agree with Gypsy... Bad dorm food IS a right of passage. I recall seeing boxes being delivered to the dining commons that were labeled, "Grade F meat: suitable for dormitories and prisons". Ewwwww. I was already vegetarian, but I couldn't understand how other students could stomach eatin...

Re: Etiquette visitors and pets?

I have severe allergies and allergy-induced asthma. When I was allergy tested I was a 4-5 on almost everything (5 is the highest on the scale). I was a 5 for both cats and horses and a 4 for dogs. I adore animals and think pets are one of the greatest joys in life, so I have learned to cope with my ...

Re: Should Women Over 40 Cut Off Their Hair?

Just wanted to add my mom who is in her 70's has lovely long hair that she has never colored. It is salt and pepper with mostly gray and some very dark brown and she mainly wears it back but it looks elegant nonetheless. Rock it ladies! Honestly that short hair "rule" is passé and has bee...

Re: Etiquette visitors and pets?

As far as etiquette, your guests have no right to ask you to 'do something' with them. They are coming to your home, they know you have animals, they can decline an invite if they so choose. I don't know your animals, but I know mine get very overwhelmed with people - especially children always try...

Re: Sofa etiquette question

This is a really tough question, IMO, because the etiquette that comes as second nature to you obviously was not instilled into others. I think there are some gray areas in the matter of eating on the furniture and using coaster. I was raised with manners, but we never used coasters, so as a child I...

Re: Is it common for guys to dye their grey hair?

Some do. Some don't. I don't know how common it is, but I'm sure it depends on personal preference, where you live, lifestyle, etc. I prefer it as long as it's done tastefully - I've seen some really strange colors that are obvious bad dye jobs and I'd almost rather see the gray hair than that. Loo...

You've got a great head of hair and it suits your pretty face. That style is definitely a keeper and probably makes you look younger than if you had a shorter 'do.

Should Women Over 40 Cut Off Their Hair?

No!!! I feel like that's such a dated idea. I agree that as you age you need to take better care of your hair since hair tends to become more brittle and dry with age, but a head of shiny, healthy hair is beautiful at any age!

I'm sorry you're going through this. I've been there before, but my job and boss were what was making me miserable, so I was able to change that. I've dealt with more minor bouts of depression since and have discovered that one of my main triggers is not getting exercise. Personally, when I start ge...

Re: Fake fingernail help please

I would think an acrylic nail would be the way to go. The only problem is you would have to get the nail filled every other week and it will do damage to your own nail. So maybe this isn't such a great suggestion. I have acrylic nails because my own were thin and split all the time. My guess is the...

Re: Fake fingernail help please

I use a nail hardener called nailtiques, which works very, very well. As momhappy mentioned, acrylic nails can be very damaging (I've had them and when the acrylic comes off your natural nails underneath are paper thin and very brittle). If you get acrylic nails you will have to be very good about k...

Do you have scuba certifications? Would that be something you would be interested in doing? DH and I got scuba certified and bought some gear as our Xmas gift. It's become a really fun hobby we can enjoy together. I know it's not for everyone, but it could be really fun for your anniversary trip!

Re: $1,199.99 for ONE 11-pound beef roast?

I had Wagyu nigiri a few years ago when I was abroad (it was delicious), but I didn't think it was available in the U.S.. I agree with Yssie 100%. I used to work with the worst of the worst--I was an agent at a very high-end travel agency. Missy--you are obviously a very kind and generous person, but I don't think you should feel the least bit guilty for not giving the problematic doormen a cash gift. Re: Nowadays,Are there peer pressure on the BF to out due..

I saw the post about the 5ct in Rocky Talk and it stood out to me that the guy mentioned that 5ct would "get me past her friends"... My interpretation of that comment was that he feels it's a priority that her ring be larger than her friend's rings, even if it's not important to her. While...
