Re: How much do you spend on a wedding gift in this situatio

I think that's fine. I can't speak from personal experience, but my friends who have had weddings seem to receive more expensive gifts from the older (more established) guests (relatives, parent's friends, etc) and the younger crowd give less expensive gifts. Personally, I would feel more uncomforta...

Re: Nowadays..$40K weddings are the norm?

We'll pay for most of the wedding ourselves, so spending $20k or more on one day just makes me sick. I would rather elope or have something small and put the money towards our dream purchase--a 4+ unit building. Not glamorous, but I'd rather spend the money on something more tangible. I think most ...

Re: Thinking About Going to London! Would Love Advice!

I work in travel and leisure, and we do a TON of London travel... Claridge's is gorgeous (as is the rest of the Maybourne group), and not ridiculously expensive (well, but London standards, at least--I mean, everything is expensive). As far as tourist attractions, if you've never been, of course you...

Re: Would you try a "Cricket Bar"?

Ewww! I used to keep reptiles and I would frequently feed them crickets. And the crickets smelled like a$$. Literally. I think because of the way they were kept and what they were fed, but if these crickets are anything like that: NO.

Re: Anyone have "ring regret" before getting the ring?

I agonized over my ring before I got it. FH picked the stone and I just showed him some pictures of styles I liked and he went to the jeweler and had them design it. Re: PLEASE Don't Steal My Mangoes!

tuffy: wow! Volunteer tomatoes? With all the F1 hybrids out there (which won't fruit from seed), I'm surprised, they must have been some kind of heirloom variety. And how awesome is that?! Re: On the subject of hair...

A B vitamin deficiency can cause hair loss. You could see if taking a vitamin B complex helps. I also have friends who swear by Biotin supplements. I believe Biotin is in the B vitamin family. In any case, both are good for your hair/skin/nails. I notice that my hair feels fuller and my nails are st...

Hi, I don't understand why the bff doesn't tell her son he just committed a faux pas. its up to him to tell his bride. Re: What do you think of this?

My opinion is: no party, no gift. I went to a weekend-long camping wedding recently where the bride and groom asked everyone to BYOAlmostEverything. I like distracts idea of motion-activated sprinkler and Pinto Beans of public shaming. I agree that it's just infuriating when people take things that are...

Re: Finally Got One -- My 1920's French Cut Eternity Ring!

So beautiful Demelza! Would you consider sizing beads? That might help it fit well and they are very comfortable. It's fabulous! French cut eternity bands are my favorite! I bought a set of Macy's Hotel Collection sheets and they pilled terribly after a few washes. They were so bad I actually took them back used. Re: What unwanted creatures have you seen in your home?

I hate to sound preachy, but I BEG... Please don't kill mice and rats with poison. Not only because it's a terrible way for them to die, but because poisoned mice and rats can poison other animals: fox, raccoons, coyote, cats, birds of prey--most notably owls. http://www.environmentalhealthnews.org/...

Re: Smallest ring size ever! 2.5

I read somewhere that even if your weight fluctuates, your finger size shouldn't change that much. Maybe half a size or so. Before I got married and gained 50 freaking pounds, I was a size 6.5-7. But now I'm a size 9.5... And my hands always feel swollen. I wonder if this is a medical issue... Haha...

Re: The setting or the stone? (partial rant)

What about getting your dream setting and setting it with a "stone that cannot be mentioned" here? Not a CZ, but a m........ite? They're sparkly, and very pretty, IMO. You can get a .75-1ct for about $200-$300 and keep it in the setting until you can save enough to replace with the .75-1ct...

Re: Dark Skin, Warm Diamond?

Unless you're **extremely** color-sensitive, I think it will look very white to you. The tint in a J colored stone is nearly imperceptible to most people's eye. And I don't think skin color really affects how white or tinted a stone appears. If anything, I would think that the contrast between a nea...
