Re: Help needed for super reactive and sensitive skin...

Hi Missy--I didn't have a chance to read through all the replies, and perhaps you've already found something that works, but in case you haven't I wanted to let you know what worked for my sensitive skin and dermatitis: SebaMed face cream. Ingredients: Aqua, Petrolatum, Myreth-3 Myristate, Glycerin,...

Re: More Design Help? Porcelain Tiles?

I have taupe-colored subtle wood grain porcelain tile (probably 12 x 24) in the entry foyer of my weekend house which has honey-colored hardwood elsewhere. It looks fabulous. One doesn't look like it's mimicking the other because they are very different in appearance and color, and I'd make the sam...

Re: Kate and the riddle of the missing ring

I have no input on size, but even as a layperson I was shocked when it was reported that the stone was 18ct! Even knowing more about jewelry now, 8ct seems like a stretch! I've never seen any really good profile shots, so I suppose a lot of weight could be hidden... In any case, I agree with many pr...

Re: How is your diet going?

Considering I'm six and a half months pregnant, my weight is going up, rather than down! I'm up 15lbs, which is pretty good. I'm trying to keep my total gain to 20-25lbs. I started off at a normal weight, but about 10-15lbs heavy for myself, so I don't want to gain too much. I've managed not to gain...

Re: The Per Pound Cost of Dog Food

My dog gets Lotus brand duck and sweet potato. It comes in a 26lb bag and costs about $75... And at 2 cups twice daily he goes through a bag every 3 weeks!!! That works out to $2.85 per pound. We also spend extra supplementing his food with fresh steamed veggies, rice or lean protein because he won'...

Amber necklace for teething

I have friends and acquaintances that swear by them. I don't use gems or crystals for healing purposes, but I have a friend who is into healing with crystals, and she had me hold some crystals to demonstrate and they actually tingled in my hands--like really tingled like the pins and needles feeling...

Re: Oberlin College Students: Cafeteria Food Is Racist

I agree with Gypsy... Bad dorm food IS a right of passage. I recall seeing boxes being delivered to the dining commons that were labeled, "Grade F meat: suitable for dormitories and prisons". Ewwwww. I was already vegetarian, but I couldn't understand how other students could stomach eatin...

Re: Etiquette visitors and pets?

I have severe allergies and allergy-induced asthma. When I was allergy tested I was a 4-5 on almost everything (5 is the highest on the scale). I was a 5 for both cats and horses and a 4 for dogs. I adore animals and think pets are one of the greatest joys in life, so I have learned to cope with my ...

Re: Should Women Over 40 Cut Off Their Hair?

Just wanted to add my mom who is in her 70's has lovely long hair that she has never colored. It is salt and pepper with mostly gray and some very dark brown and she mainly wears it back but it looks elegant nonetheless. Rock it ladies! Honestly that short hair "rule" is passé and has bee...

Re: Etiquette visitors and pets?

As far as etiquette, your guests have no right to ask you to 'do something' with them. They are coming to your home, they know you have animals, they can decline an invite if they so choose. I don't know your animals, but I know mine get very overwhelmed with people - especially children always try...

Re: Sofa etiquette question

This is a really tough question, IMO, because the etiquette that comes as second nature to you obviously was not instilled into others. I think there are some gray areas in the matter of eating on the furniture and using coaster. I was raised with manners, but we never used coasters, so as a child I...

Re: Is it common for guys to dye their grey hair?

Some do. Some don't. I don't know how common it is, but I'm sure it depends on personal preference, where you live, lifestyle, etc. I prefer it as long as it's done tastefully - I've seen some really strange colors that are obvious bad dye jobs and I'd almost rather see the gray hair than that. Loo...

You've got a great head of hair and it suits your pretty face. That style is definitely a keeper and probably makes you look younger than if you had a shorter 'do.

Should Women Over 40 Cut Off Their Hair?

No!!! I feel like that's such a dated idea. I agree that as you age you need to take better care of your hair since hair tends to become more brittle and dry with age, but a head of shiny, healthy hair is beautiful at any age!

Re: Fake fingernail help please

I would think an acrylic nail would be the way to go. The only problem is you would have to get the nail filled every other week and it will do damage to your own nail. Re: Fake fingernail help please

I use a nail hardener called nailtiques, which works very, very well. As momhappy mentioned, acrylic nails can be very damaging (I've had them and when the acrylic comes off your natural nails underneath are paper thin and very brittle). If you get acrylic nails you will have to be very good about k...
