Re: Unheated Internally Flawless Sapphire (Origin Inconclusi

I have read that with emeralds that a three phase inclusion (e.g. a gas bubble and dolomite crystal with typical jagged outline seen in syngenetic inclusions) can determine origin of colombia but an inclusion of only one type say a crystal can not tell them origin. Is this not the type of thing Rock...

Re: How would you maximize $40K, within these specs?

I agree diamondseeker2006, I have read they may cut them different to get the ideal by changing star facets and pavillion halfs or other minor facets on the diamond, just wonder which they change though and how they know it will be better when that information is not out here on the pricescope board...

Re: How would you maximize $40K, within these specs?

I have noticed that some of the AGS000 ideal cuts get only 3 vg and 1 ex and they are supposed to be ideal cut without
the hca.

Re: Photos of my e-ring, am I being too picky about the sett

I was meaning the same in my earlier post, the sides are too flat that to just shave down the prongs may end up with it looking funny looking like an amateur has done it. The prongs are the design. If they are not what the owner wants they should take it up with Whiteflash that they don't feel the d...

Re: Photos of my e-ring, am I being too picky about the sett

I think the ring looks fine now seeing the photos on the hand, I was imagining the bottom two prongs being further up towards the middle of the stone. My feeling is I would not like it with just three square looking prongs, and if the bottom prongs were removed I would not like it with just two squa...

Re: FCD CAD assistance request

I have seen some really good ideas come out on this board from pricescopers, and maybe some of them are very artistic. Wonder Chrono if you could draw out a sketch of what you want with the romanov design features, even if very rough because someone may be able to get something from that and sketch ...

I always remind myself of the saying, 'if in doubt do nowt' I have something the same going on now, and need to stand back and see what I want as it goes one day fr.om wanting it then another to not. Re: What is this treatment called (pic inside)

The metal on the band looks quite soft and marked. It looks like tarnished silver to me. Just guessing. There is black rhodium plating that is sometimes a finish on modern rings but it looks very dark black and not like that at all. Platinum can look gun metal color when it has a patina but this loo...

Are melee diamond rings really a vintage or antique look?

http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/vintage-and-antique-style-rings/#axzz2y18SfeEK

Read this morning and found interesting.

Various people answered and seems the look is trying to copy fillagree and engraving but adding micro diamonds.
MAYBE?

Re: Photos of my e-ring, am I being too picky about the sett

Think that is just the style of the setting and not done incorrectly. I am in the UK and have asked someone else here to look and they like the setting as is too. I don't like the other setting picture posted and feel it makes the bottom of the stone look bald or narrow. If you look at the v shape i...

Re: Am I crazy? An I1 for my matching stud?? Help please..

I would wait until I had the money to match it to my original stone? After reading your other posts, would this affect your ring setting project? If you have the money, but don't want to spend, then you have a reason, but take your time to find out what that is and what you really want longterm. Of ...

Seems to me that the inclusion is in the best place as it is being hidden a bit by the bowtie. I quite like
the diamond and it's shape. The inclusion was in the middle of the stone I believe.

Re: D FL/IF worth it?

I remember this topic being discussed from years ago and the late Rockdoc, an appraiser who was an expert on the forum, said when others were writing about the diamond no longer being Flawless, perhaps due to just the setting of the stone, which he agreed could happen. He added though that this was ...

Not after the 'please don't leave' either, I can't standing that either. Hi Karl :wavey: Yes I can see that consumers can look and make up their mind what they like best. Re: 30yearsofdiamonds what is your deal with Fluorescence???

The way diamonds are graded, we can sort of pick and mix, what color we want, clarity and cut even, and then carat weight. It means people have different opinions on what they want to spend on. Diamonds are seen as an elite stone. Fact is if you go fo top of every one of the four C's set down by the...

Re: Jackie Kennedy's engagement ring as a Mothers ring

The picture is saying 'redesigned'. I think the one qvc had on their show in the UK was just the green emerald with marquise diamonds
around it and it did not have a large emerald cut diamond. Unless they have done another one after.

Why would the tables be turned, would be what I want to know? Is it a crooky practice to fool us? To sell something else. Is it research based by appraisers, gemmologists, GIA etc.? Is it a change in how we buy, i.e. buy what I like with the eye, in an arty way (without an art qualification)? If it ...

Re: Would you pay more for a med or strong blue fluoro diamo

I see it as an impurity in a D-F color diamond. In my mind a bit like an impurity in color would be. I wouldn't mind it in a small diamond but not in a diamond over 1 carat. In lower colors maybe say J to L I would buy it but for the same price as non fluorescent or at a discount as I think as I sai...

Re: How do you feel about feathers

Re: How do you feel about feathers

I was against feathers until I found out that even a diamond graded VS1 at 10X with no feather, could have a VVS2 size feather not mentioned, or minute feathers at 30X, 40X, 50X magnification. This is because a diamond is only graded at 10X so feathers at higher magnification are not plotted or ment...
