Re: Final picks! Five Emerald Cuts with ASETs

Think it is the bright bar in the middle of the good old gold pictures I like, the centre step which shows red on the 2nd stone. It is that I like, although one of the JA stones shows pink in the centre it is only one half of the centre and then pink up the side so not as contrasting. I like the obl...

Re: Final picks! Five Emerald Cuts with ASETs

Think I also like the length of the third James Allen one too. I have looked and the three I prefer are in the 1.43 etc range. There is something I like better about the GOG two though not sure what. The first and second JA ones I don't like the shape of the bowtie in the middle, think it is too fat...

Re: Final picks! Five Emerald Cuts with ASETs

I think the last three look less long and also as the pictures are loaded horizontal I wonder a bit if that is why I am looking at them differently. They also look too black looking to me in the centre of the diamond in the diamond photo not the reflector images. No 1 is pretty but looks like the st...

The only one I like is No2. I wouldn't buy any of the others but No1 is second in my opinion.

Re: Examples of 3 stone vertical rings

Love them all. I have worn longer rings on my middle finger before but always feel it is not as nice. My fingers are really short and most long stones are over the folds at my knuckles which I hate. I always wondered why we saw rings like the Duchess of Cambridge (Kate's) which looked like flowers a...

Re: Advice on a Diamond I bought

I bought an engagement ring and I got to pick a massive list of diamonds, I paid £600 for the plantium ring and £1000 for the diamond. I thought I could pick something with better quality online than buying one from a shop like Argos. I didn't know what angles and things like that ment, I thought h...

Re: B&M Experience - Engagement Ring

chemgirl We were talking about rough diamonds before they are cut being rejected for things like grain. Meaning did they get perfect crystals which were better than all other diamonds bought in the world. Graining is usually graded as VVS1, VVS2 in those cases. Graining at VS1 or VS2 would be report...

Thanks Paul-Antwerp. Yes, sorry I probably was quoting out of context as I was just writing from memory and it was years ago now and I maybe even interpreted wrongly what you wrote in any case.

Re: Approx 1940s vintage rose gold ring

I remember someone on here was not happy when a jeweller polished her southwestern silver antique bracelet and the late rockdoc told her to seal the ring in a polythene bag and to place elastic bands in with it and this would cause the silver to tarnish again. Don't know if it works with gold.

Re: CvB CADS

Will you go for a similar design this time? I think the beads around the stone are really unusual - makes a change from diamond halos.

Re: Examples of 3 stone vertical rings

I think this is a style that has not come back into fashion because it doesn't suit most people, need long fingers for this type.

Re: Please help, is this a difficult repair?

Are you sure it is not another ring eating into the prongs. The prongs can be replaced but may be better to buy a new setting in this case. This setting is cast so probably more expensive to repair than it is worth, a jeweller should be able to advise you, ask for a quote.

Re: What would you do?

Return it, but if you have great sentimental value in it already, I would keep it and ask for $500 refund - it has affected your
enjoyment of the ring.

Re: Polishing cloths and 14kt. yellow gold

Yes. They only remove microscopic bits of the gold. Less than a jeweller polishing it would. They are impregnated with rouge.

Re: B&M Experience - Engagement Ring

I also remember it said that Tiffany selected the first stones from debeers mines and they rejected the ones with graining and wanted better quality more clear stones...

Re: Please Help (Never Bought Diamonds Before -1st Time)

here is one of the tension set manufacturers I think they are in the USA maybe not but this is one of those who use the proper tension rings and they are probably about $4000 just for the ring. Other tension settings are not as good in the long term even the single stone ones you see for sale in lar...

Re: Please Help (Never Bought Diamonds Before -1st Time)

These are really inferior quality, the design is not worthy. Not trying to give you the answer you want because none of us would buy these. The diamonds in the centre have nothing to hold them in, just the tension from the outer ones. There are tension set diamond rings for single stones made by abo...

Re: What's the meaning of your PS user name?

I chose Pyramid because a pyramid is a half of an octahedron which is one of the natural diamond shapes (before the stones are cut) i.e. like a diamond shape in geommetry.
