Re: Opinions on 2.5ct H, SI2 Aset, Idealscope, Diamond image

I would ask White flash as they would know. If it is a reflection then it is not a solid in that particular area so may not be as noticeable as in a static picture; maybe it does not show all the time depending on lighting. Just my thoughts but ask someone who is qualified in diamond grading, they m...

Re: Opinions on 2.5ct H, SI2 Aset, Idealscope, Diamond image

I wonder is the inclusion between 12 O'clock and the centre just a reflection of the one at 6 O'clock and not a real second inclusion. Chances are for the same budget if you get another diamond it may be lower in color or smaller.

Just noticed they only refurbished it and set the diamond, the ring was bought from eBay. They actually thinned the ring down.

Re: My handmade velvet ring box and cushion halo earrings

Love this thread. Junebug, still a great box for display purposes though, remember some say the higher the diamond is set the bigger it appears to be. (I know you have a large diamond already though but it will look even bigger :appl: ).

Re: Superideal cut MRB -- Qs for diamond enthusiasts/educato

I don't know, but I wonder is it bad form, for a vendor who sells a certain superideal cut diamond, which is also being touted occasionally by ONE customer of his who has bought this brand as well, to highlight that a certain super ideal is better, way better is the point being made than others bein...

Re: Superideal cut MRB -- Qs for diamond enthusiasts/educato

The diamonds shown have pavilion angles that vary from 40.7 to 40.9. I totally agree with Wink that they will not all look exactly alike to the discerning eye when seen side by side, though they are all beautifully cut stones and which is nicer is, in my opinion, a matter of personal preference. It...

Re: Will this effect the brilliance of the main diamond?

In Victorian times they wore black enamelled rings and jewelry with black stones, jet etc when mourning and to let people know along with all black clothes. An engagement is a happy time and to me anyway is the opposite. If your girlfriend wants this that's good but not a surprise most would like.

Re: AGS Cut grade 2 vs Cut grade/Light Perf. 0 vs Super Idea

I was curious about the HCA score and went to look at the Holloway Cut Advisor site. This diamond is one of the harder to find FIC diamonds. In the Firey Ideal range as compared to being in the Tolkowsky Ideal range. It will have more colour light return and less brilliant white light return, althou...

Re: PLease Help me choose between whiteflash and james allen

Most people will not have best quality because there are other things to spend money upon. I would buy a small vvs stone but not a large one just to get that quality but my bigger diamond would be vs, same with d; larger diamond f or g, would want ideal or Gia Ex if chosen by diamond angles and cara...

Re: PLease Help me choose between whiteflash and james allen

Best quality should be a balance dependant on budget. d, if, ideal, most carat is best quality. Most professional diamond experts say it should be in the order of Cut then Colour then Clarity which all three together determine Carat weight due to budget. I have read you should aim for Best cut ideal...

Re: Gemscan diamond but turns out to have GIA laser engravin

Remember ccuheartnurse that GIA article which said internal feathers are plotted as crystals, this would put me off an SI2 crystal. A feather reaches the surface other breaks are crystals band treated the same as actual crystalised inclusions of peridot, diamond, ruby etc found inside diamond.

Re: WF A Cut Above appraised as very good cut. Does it matte

It is a big world, I remember asking a high class jeweller in the UK about ten years ago about diamonds and said after reading the internet that I wanted a GIA certificate and he looked puzzled at me and said but that stands for america, in the UK we use the HRD lab and find it grades correctly. So a 1 carat diamond is 6mm

H Samuel a chain store in the UK owned by Signet group have now got an ideal cut hearts and arrows diamond called Celebration Grand cut in Tolkowsky style. Money already spent

For those who bought their diamond in recent years or many years ago, what do you think - would you have to spend more or less to buy the same diamond now? Just your immediate opinion now unless you know about these things and can elaborate quickly.

Re: Perfect Circle Jewelry Insurance Frustration

Pyramid- I own a few rings- this one was not a secondary market ring. I was married before, and engaged as well prior- all Tiffany rings. I see, was just wondering about why Tiffany would not work with your insurer. I wish you all the best with your health and with getting your claim processed asap.

Re: Setting Trends for Old Diamonds

You do know the feather on the crown is the same one as on the pavilion, the two drawings join up. The pavilion chart on the report folds back under the crown chart like its upon a hinge, so the right side pavilion is underneath the left side crown.

Re: Setting Trends for Old Diamonds

Notice the feather breaks on both the crown, girdle and pavilion, may need to check with an independent appraiser that this is not on the extremely thin part of the girdle. I know it is VS1 but as it is an old stone I would check if it has been damaged further in this area.
