Re: Can my ring be repaired?

That's good as it's progress, rather than keeping going back to the jeweller because they say it is soft but they are in no way responsible in both what they said about the way the cathedral shoulder collapsed but also in truth if it was a manufacturing fault because they are not the manufacturer. I...

Re: Can my ring be repaired?

I would check with blue nile about their platinum mix and it's softness whilst you have newly bought the rings.

Re: Ways to re-wear your wedding jewelry

Have noticed brides with pears with a long drop pearl or ornament in the centre and often thought it could only look bridal, is this what you mean? Suppose it could be restrung without large pearl but then would not be the same necklace.

Re: Does Diamond Shape Affect The Value?

Higher Cut, Color or Clarity has a huge effect on diamond price too. A smaller high color stone can be more expensive than a larger lower color and the same with the others. A balance of the 4 C's is best, this board however promotes Cut above the rest for visual reasons but there are other levels t...

Re: Can my ring be repaired?

It may depend on what the platinum is alloyed with and the quantities e.g was it 950 parts or less? Maybe to do with the annealing process. Only one of the experts here would know and don't know if they can comment - probably not now that Blue Nile has been mentioned as they cannot comment online on...

If the platinum is too soft the rings will bend with wearing them.

Jewelry Boxes

I was looking through a magazine and it showed a make up artist's home décor, beautiful, someone who worked with Yves Saint Laurent for 15 years. Well she had on a shelf two beautiful jewelry boxes and I was reminded how beautiful they look displayed in a bedroom or in her case a dressing room I thi...

Re: Help! Would You Buy A Pear With A Feather Near The Point

I wonder of GIA describes durability as the same as breakage like broken in two etc because they have I1 as the lowest clarity to do this. To say wacking an SI1 could cause breakage is this not the same as saying wacking a VS1 could cause breakage too? I would rather agree with GIA they are the inve...

Re: Help! Would You Buy A Pear With A Feather Near The Point

Thanks Rockdiamond. I really think this feather type discussion is a way of instigating online sales in the same way as cut is because local jewellers have nothing to say on the issue of durability and only speak of clarity in terms of eye cleanliness. :angryfire:

Re: Help! Would You Buy A Pear With A Feather Near The Point

Re: Help! Would You Buy A Pear With A Feather Near The Point

Best to wait to see what Garry thinks. My thoughts are just that it is not that near to the tip of the diamond. Is the girdle at the point fairly thick or is it thin, can you get a photo under the loupe maybe for Garry or one of the experts to look and judge? From what I read the crystal is the grad...

Re: Help! Would You Buy A Pear With A Feather Near The Point

I would find an F VS1 to be a much more worthy upgrade than a D SI2. Would probably be twice as much money though. It's the same number of steps. If those two color grades (E and D) are given to the clarity, it jumps from SI2 to VS1. If the OP is going down in carat weight, staying at SI2 seems unf...

Re: Diamond Promise Rings

A bit like locking the girl down, I wouldn't have liked it. The promise rings used in USA are the size of our engagement rings in Britain so I suppose we see it as an engagement ring (usually quarter of a carat).

Re: Diamond Promise Rings

Re: Help! Would You Buy A Pear With A Feather Near The Point

As it is not near the point, and due to the view of many cutters who are a lot more experienced than consumers and say a diamond will never go through what it goes through on the diamond cutting wheel. Then unless the feather at the girdle is very large I think in this case I would buy it. You can o...

Re: Retailers influence the diamond buying process
