Re: Size vs. quality for a diamond

I get what you are meaning, maybe it is humans who put that label on. So you see a T color I3 as being as good quality as a G VS2, even though the I stands for Imperfect. So Perfect to Imperfect is different from Quality.

Re: Size vs. quality for a diamond

I have an SI1 G diamond and an E VS1 diamond and I do feel the SI1 diamond is of lower quality, the same as If I had a VVS1 it would feel my VS1 was of lower quality - because it is. It has larger or more flaws, not a solid crystal of diamond with less impurity. Color or the gas making it is an impu...

Re: Size vs. quality for a diamond

I agree that you need to choose which of the 4 Cs is important to you. Cut is never sold in the outside world the way it is on here. ,When I first started researching diamonds on the internet in 1997/98 the experts always said you should go for a balance of the four C,'s then this board started up a...

I like Kenny and I don't see him as a bully. There is a group of women who I would say are bullies here and I have run into them a couple of times but Kenny no.

Re: 2.4 H vs2 Ideal hearts & arrow OR 2.26 F Vs2 triple x?

I would think the F color should be a lot more valuable. Check with an appraiser.

Re: My e-ring. Old mine diamond.

Really like how you can see the reflection of the heart filigree in the prong when your ring is lying flat. Great diamond. It doesn't look square or cushion like an old mine cut and reminds me more of an old European cut.

Re: Rhapsody in Bespoke Gems Blues!!!

Thanks mochiko, did not realise we all piled on your stone. Yes the Asschers will be deeper in color and in depth, I was thinking the rough looked darker than those too though but looking sat the rough photo where it is held up you can see it looks lighter than when lying flat on the table. I just t...

Re: Are we asking the impossible?

I do not feel I am uninformed. I know about cut is king, but a diamond is three dimensional and sparkly from the top with a grey body color in artificial light especially noticeable in large diamonds, even from the top view - not my cup of tea. When I joined this forum people were finding it diffic...

Funny aerial44 if I am new here as I have been here four years longer than you have. I do not have an IF stone it is VS1 so not gem quality by gemologist standards.

Re: Are we asking the impossible?

Thinking about it gem quality diamonds are d to f, if to vvs2, ideal, excellent cut, so I suppose we are all buying semi precious diamonds anyway at the end of the day. Diamonds really are for the Liz Taylors.

Re: Are we asking the impossible?

Yes I agree, point taken Niel. Not excusing myself but there are far more people here on the opposite opinion of me, who are voicing all the time, everyday, not just Aerial 44, that you can buy a large, low color diamond, low clarity and no one will see a difference, maybe so, but those who care for...

Re: Rhapsody in Bespoke Gems Blues!!!

Loving Gems, your asschers are beautiful and a good representation for me of what to expect because my supernova oval is 2.5 carats so bit smaller than your earring stone size. I think they will look very unique with the pearls and agree the colours will compliment each other. Everything I read says...

Re: Are we asking the impossible?

I have a large ideal diamond and do not need to buy a diamond I cannot see which is internally flawless. I paid a lot for it and you do not get the same diamond for less even if you rubbish high clarity. Would you like to buy something and have people tell others something for a fraction of the pric...

Re: Are we asking the impossible?

I don't get why clarity doesn't matter to some, would you have a tear in your clothes or crack in your window - so why pay thousands for a diamond which has this, just because you can't see it!!!!!!!??? Re: When did you reset/upgrade your ring?

Never happens in Britain. Another ring is not your engagement ring but a right hand ring. Could wear on left hand but no one does that or really buys right hand rings. An eternity ring may be added to the engagent ring but probably no bigger than half carat or so total.

Re: James Allen refusing to give ASET images?

I remember seeing on Dallas, Sue Ellen's ring when I was a teenager and I just loved it. it was large and rectangular and I think a crushed ice radiant. Re: Which "I" is more "colorless"?

I seem to remember reading something about look how clear as in sharply you can see the edges or corners, point of the stone too as less color looks sharper in shape.

Re: Which "I" is more "colorless"?

An odd observation on the way brains work. When you're color grading, you need to switch which stone is on the left and right to get a full picture. Every one has a slight color bias to one side. Normally you see color better towards the same side as the hand you write with but not always. GIA teac...

Re: Setter's remorse

I think the second one probably looks more like the expensive ones than the first because there is less metal so it is more in proportion to them. Maybe look at the show me your halo thread and compare there. These expensive rings usually do have tiny pave so it could be more similar to them.

Re: Setter's remorse

I selected yes but I don't think cheap cheap but looks lesser than your first one, I prefer the original. They both however look a lot cheaper than Leon Mege styles where the prongs are finished in the antique way where you see four together on the edges of stones and a scalloped wall beneath each s...
