Re: PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

hi Mommies! my little girl is getting so big now. she didn't grow that much the first six months we moved to Singapore, but after Christmas, she's grown 3 cm! she's still short compared to Western kids, but bigger than the average Asian kid. S enjoyed her Easter egg hunt so much, that we ended up ha...

Re: PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

I think kids understand discipline and consequences very early on. However, when S gets really upset, she can't control herself very well and there's no reasoning with her and discipline doesn't work. I just stay calm, pick her up and take her away from the situation. Usually we go look out the wind...

Re: PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

One of Skye's classmates who is 18-mo-old also lives in our condo. The family is 2 parents with 4 young girls, and they have 2 live-in maids. Each maid shares a room with 2 girls. Believe me, the rooms are not that big. Anyway, the family has just gone on vacation to Spain for a week and left the 18...

Re: PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

TIP: The sooner you teach your kid to eat the same stuff as Mom and Dad are having (which is any time after they turn 1), the easier the cooking gets. When cooking dinner, I would just put aside a small portion for S the next day (because she eats earlier than we do) or for 2 days if the next day we...

Re: PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

Such cuties! I'm a bit late in the game, but I also recommend toddler diaper changes standing up. Also, be careful with giving a bottle at bed time. That is not good for their teeth. It seems so long ago when S was going through those things but I remember always stressing when we had to make a majo...

Re: PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

hi mommas! hope you had lovely Valentine's Days, for whomever celebrated. we didn't do anything special (but then again we manage to have a date night almost every week), which is fine with me because as a parent of a small child, sometimes going to bed on time and getting a good sleep is the best g...

Happy 2nd Birthday to geri 's C and LV 's S! Skippy - haha, for the longest time, please was also "peeeeeeeeeees?" here. we got S a Snoopy tricycle that has a push pole at the back so I can push and steer. she doesn't understand the pedals so usually she just puts her feet up in the air. L...

Re: PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

dcgator - it's a misleading photo. she actually slides off the pony when it moves, so DH was holding her up the whole time. he quickly stepped away for that photo. pony was standing still. ooh, exciting times this year for you in trying to expand your family! Skippy - ha, that's so funny about the ...

Re: PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

Happy New Year, Mommies! We had a wonderful 2-week vacation in South Africa and Skye had the best time in her life. She loves animals and my SIL has so many, so S was just in heaven. Otherwise, all going well. S drinks out of cup, finally. She can count, but I doubt she understands what numbers mean...

Re: How to encourage 2.5 year old to sit on the real toilet?

I agree with making sitting on the toilet fun. we usually blow bubbles and I have a wand and DD has a wand and we try to catch each others' bubbles. we've been doing this for months and she still enjoys it. (there was a time when she would ask to go poo poo just so she could blow bubbles.)

Re: PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

I can't wait for Skye to start speaking as well as pupp 's N. right now it's mostly two words and a lot of commanding: "Mommy, come! Mommy, sit! Mommy, sing! Mommy, stand!" etc, but similarly to kunzite 's O, it's mostly words only DH and I can understand. kunzite - aw, the twins are so cu...

Re: PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

Yesterday, Skye turned 2! On Friday, she had a small celebration at school. Was fun to see how she acts at school amongst the Asian kids. She is much better behaved because she copies them. Yesterday we went to the zoo in the morning and then had her party in the afternoon. Her favorite gift was a b...

Re: PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

LV - Before we could look for a helper, I had to take a small course and exam on how I should treat her. Apparently, it is quite common that helpers get verbally/physically abused or are asked to do things (like go to other family members' houses to clean) which are not within the contract (which i...

What's going on with your kid's eye colour?

S's are still dark green-gray with a brown center. I thought they would have turned brown by now.

Re: PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

Hi! Been so busy. Right now I'm in Houston for work. Fly back tomorrow. 28 hours or something. Yuck. If you throw a ball in the mid...

Re: PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

Skippy - due to the heat + humidity, apparently the kids get all stinky after playing outside in the morning. therefore the shower. it's probably just a quick rinse. she's good at floating with the floatee thing on. if we take it off, she sinks!
